Electricity in Amazaing Thailand(Chiang Mai).

Currently it is the middle of winter in Amzaing Chiang Mai.  The temperature is about 20 C and the electricty just went out in my neighborhood (I live close to the Nimman area in CNX). First time that I can recall that electricity went out in early January.  I wonder how many air conditioners are on now?

There were 185,264 air conditioners on before the electricity went out.

Now there are 3 on, they have generators.

How long have you lived there?

High demand is only one of the causes of power outages

I know that but since I have moved into this area electricity outages were a common thing in spring and summer.  Ranging from an hour to 4 hours. This is area is mixed use.  Anyway this time it was only 90 minutes.

We live just 100M from Bangkok … walked into the bathroom early morning … window was open and it was cooler than our bedroom which had air con on …no air con tonight then…

I’ve experienced power outages a number of times in cm and the north, never once has it ever occurred to me to waste my time and go on the internet to make mention of it.

Lots of topics about stuff that it’s hard to imagine why it is coming up.

I have solar and batteries, the grid can go off as often as it likes.

I find it hard to imagine people even using air conditioners at this time of the year! We normally just leave the windows open. But I guess I've been here too long, as I opted for a couple of electric heaters for the bathrooms!

Interesting. On lower ChangKlan there was no correlation. NO increase in power outages during the hot season vs the rest of the year. The only likelihood of having the power go out, was when a thunderstorm kicked up.

Spare a thought for us! over in Phetchabun it was 12 this morning!

Played golf early this morning there were bits of me that got cold that had not been cold for years.

Probably too much information!

He hasn't lived very long in Chiang Mai! because the power in Chiang Mai goes out every time I go there. Which is at least every 3 months.

The electricity probably went out because everybody bought a heater from China and had it turned on in the morning.

12 yesterday, & 13 at 609 AM, in CM this morning. Likely a bit colder than that in the 'eastern suburbs'. As in next to a rice field outside of San Khampaeng.

However you waste your time to mention you would not have bothered to mention it.

The a/c hasn’t been used here for at least eight weeks. As of late the windows remain closed, wool long underwear and thicker blankets, the wife sleeps with an added sweatshirt and wadded up in two blankets

Yes, in mob 13 years here in five different locations, if the electric goes off, it is usually restored with the hour. Only one time did I see a hotel overnight.

Might have been planned maintenance, a fault within the control of EGAT or an unexpected fault, e.g. someone dug up a cable.  As folks are saying, not likely under capacity leading to a trip (too many air con), but it could have been under capacity as part of the network was isolated for maintenance.  Just mentioning possibilities, I have no inside track.
