Democracy has failed the US.  It began to get captured by lobbyists in the late 70s.  Then in the 80s all the crazy people were set free from mental hospitals with no mental health monitoring or treatment. That's when you started seeing homeless people on the streets. Also in the 80s, the rich people who ran universities decided to make tuition unaffordable for the middle class.  They saw the inside corporate plans to outsource factory jobs to Asia and automation from robots so they knew there would be fewer jobs in the future in America so they wanted to make it more difficult to compete with their upper middle class Biff and Muffy.

Housing was pretty reasonable priced until late 90s.  That's when the corporate greed exploded in real estate and increasing profit every year became their god they worshipped and they started creating derivative securities based on total bull<deleted>.

All the while they figured out how to make themselves richer while middle class people got poorer.

Like eliminating the rule preventing corporations from buying back their own stock and using the money to reinvest in their factories. 

 

That's when they decided to outsource and pay themselves huge "dividends". 

 

Basically sucking the blood of middle class Americans like capitalist vampires.

 

Democracy failed us because it let our infrastructure degrade because all the money went to tax cuts for rich people.

 

Democracy failed us because it let the prices for real estate escalate far beyond wage increases to become unaffordable.

 

Maybe it's time to try a Dictator...?

Will the slim majority of American voters (<2%) "find out" that they voted for a liar?  That's he's not really going to be a dictator on Day 1.  Not then, not never.

So the question is:  Is the mood of the country turning towards Revolution?  Not yet.

 

What we need is another Great Depression, and then a Re-Start, maybe.

 

What we see now in the USA cannot last forever, nor should it.

And, if you recall those times, there were plenty of student protests, many protesting the Vietnam War, which scared the pants off the powers that be.

 

However, it has been said that after those in power witnessed the solidarity and push-back from students at the time, they made it impossible for this type of rebellion to happen again. They did this through piling on student debt, as one example. Students were then forced to work in order to scrape by, and were compelled to work multiple jobs post-graduation, just to pay back these never-ending college debts.

 

Which meant there was much less time for thinking, and even less time for protesting.  The populace, in general, due to policies such as this became far more docile, and much more fractured.

 

Will there be a future time when we once again see protest such as that which happened in the 60s and 70s?

No one has given Trump dictatorial powers.  The US wasn't set up that way and it isn't about to change just because the voters got sick of how the Democrats were destroying the country and wanted to try something different.  Legally, there's a "separation of powers."  The executive, the legislative, and the judicial. The constitution was set up to prevent a dictator-like situation. And t works. Sometimes too well, as we can se from the gridlock in DC.  Still, it's better than the alternative. 

 

Will the voters be disappointed?  Many of them, especially all the people who will lose their jobs in the coming months and years.  Not necessarily because of Trump and the budget cuts that will be implementing where he can, but because of new disruptive business models and the rise of artificial intelligence.  And that's happening at warp speed.  A new industrial revolution of sorts. 

 

Millions of people will lose their jobs to AI "agents" and businesses implementing artificial intelligence solutions. Accountants, some lawyers, paralegals, clerical workers. Basically, anyone engaged in a mid-level white collar job should be prepared for unemployment.  And it won't be just those people. Robotics is also coming of age.  Humanoid robots available at a very reasonable cost. Just the occasional recharging, and they're good to go.  And they will be able to be programed to do all sorts of different tasks. People will be losing factory jobs. 

 

In any event, the country can no longer afford business as usual.  The bond market is already on life support.  So it's change or else.

There are many true statements in this post and I would agree that democracy has failed. I do not agree that democracy is the best form of government. Allowing uneducated and uninformed citizens to vote is not the best way to choose a President. But the will of the people have chosen Trump to lead the United States forward and I am very much looking forward to the next four years, especially after the disaster of the Biden/Harris presidency. Only seven more days until Trump is sworn in, thank God.
