Sealant Glue for Shower Screen

Featured Replies

I have just realised that our Thailand condo shower screen is not actually bolted to the floor or wall. Instead they appear to have used to some clear thick glue sealant. See picture. I realised because one end of the top pole has come unstuck.

This does not appear to be normal silcone sealant of the type I used back in the UK to make the shower tray water tight. But some type of glue sealant holds the pole, the U clamps and the whole screen in place (hopefully!).

What is this stuff called and where in Thailand can I buy it?

Just in general this might help.

HomePro and probably many other shops have many products including i.e. brand Sista.

On the internet you can find the lineup of their products and for what they are used.

I.e. here:

https://asiancoatings.com/brand/sista/

https://www.thaiwatsadu.com/en/brand/SISTA

But it seems some Thai technicians don't really look for the correct product.

I.e. there are Sista F101, F130 and F134 for different applications but looking very similar...

Mine is attached in a similar way, the metal bracket things must be attached otherwise pointless them being on the glass

It's probably silicone seal. Is it rubbery when you touch it? If so, available everywhere.

Your photo shows a clip attaching the glass to the wall with a screw or bolt.  Like Scuba referenced.

Ah ok, the metal brackets must be screwed into the wall then. But there are only two at the left and two at the bottom. I am pretty sure the sealant is also adding a lot of support.

Anyway the top pole only has sealant at both ends - not screwed into the wall.

Yes the sealant is rubbery to the touch. I bought some silcone sealant at Mr DIY and it was nothing like this - it was similar to what you get back in the UK at B&Q.

This sealant seems a lot more heavy duty, so was wondering what product it was.

You want a caulk not silicon, not seen here mould resistant silicon, the readily available one gradually goes yellow,

I bought a tube of Sika (brand name) that has a range of silicons and caulks, get at any half decent hardware store, white black I think and clear, does not shrink best used around counter tops and showers, or try a roofers silicon that should stick anything and should not shrink or crack should be just as affective as Sika caulk/silicon.
