It all depends on LOCAL OFFICE POLICY.  KORAT requires a NEW  TM-30 EVEN returning to same address if you leave the country - 1st hand knowledge!

Thanks, just logged in with no problems, there’s an “‘Approved” next to my address, and, as on previous attempts, I can see the screen to add all this info. Don’t want to test it today though, as if it were to work this time, I’d be a couple of months late with my submission! I’ll have another opportunity to try next month, when I’ll be returning from a few days in Kuala Lumpur.

So could someone please offer some info on this? (Please note, while my IQ is not that low, I would love some super simple, uncomplicated step-by-step style directions on this, as if I were a 2 year old! 😉)

Looks like it's not always that straightforward. I extended my stay and on the same day filed a 90-days (in person, having come from outside). I got the 90 days but with the remark that I needed to do a TM-30 again. No change of address, first time I got this remark.

My TM30 is dated 2015, been out of the country more times than I remember, had several new visas and a new passport since then. Renewed extension and did 90 day report last week without any question, but one day I expect them to say a bit faded.

Almost EVERY IO has a LOCAL POLICY on TM-30's

- same with the paperwork required to renew your new "extensions of stay" and paperwork for other things.

 

One Brit I knew did his 90 day on the last day, last minute, the officer told him he needed to prove his address with his lease ( same address for 12 years ) to get his 90 day approved and sent him packing.  Next day my friend returned with lease AND the landlord who raised holly hell with a supervisor, no fine and 90 day paperwork "fixed"

When it's done is irrelevent. So long as you have a lodged submission, even if done on day of a visit to immigration, they are satisfied. As far as they know, you could have been travelling and staying in guest houses or hotels all around Thailand (and, as we know, many small places do not file TM30s for guests).

As I recall, it is not the "home owner" that is responsible, but the "house master"... which is not necessarily the same thing. If you are in a yellow book, you may be the housemaster, rented properties not so sure.

You can also then register for the online TM30 service in your or your wife's name with their help at the same time.

 

I don't arrive at the address and IO where my retirement extension is registered every Autumn until about a month after I arrive in Thailand. My landlord just tells them I arrived the day before and we never had a problem with this. Good luck!

House Master is the person in control ( rents / owns ) of the house AND can also be a Tenant. Both can do a TM-30.  Make sure you have a rental / lease agreement to qualify. An original TM-30 should have been done by owner / landlord. You are updating.

Typical of Korat Immigration.  Most people report that they don't have to re-register provided they return to the same address. Is it Korat being awkward as usual or is it because he's left the country and returned?  I'll have to register TM30 with Korat again soon - first time was a nightmare as they had no idea what a Usufruct is.

Basically down to Korat and their pals in Nakorn Ratchasima (as in the OP's case) being rogue offices, pure and simple, when it comes to enforcing TM30 requirements, I think. FYI Nakhon Ratchasima is Korat - a Thai abrieviation - Nakhon Ratchasima

Thanks SunsetT, sound advice! At first I did think I would plan to arrive in Bkk on a Friday, so that I could go back to NR (Korat), relax for a few days, then go up to NR IO on Monday, the next working day after the Friday (which they would apparently allow & accept. )

But I then thought that that's not an ideal long term solution to this TM30 business. So.....I'm determined to finally get this online system available to me.

 

Your idea of getting help from the IO to set it up is a good idea and I will try to do that......if I fail to do so myself!

Yes, sadly you're right about Korat IO in regard to TM30. 

I find them very helpful & efficient on the whole....but their insistence on new TM30 reports even when returning to same address after returning from abroad is a drag.

But....the more I think about this, the more I feel a bit resentful (towards the IO) about having to do stuff like that.

 

Right now, I feel determined to try and make their weird online system work for me.......somehow! I'm not gonna let their silly bureaucratic nonsense beat me! 😉😆
