Starting tomorrow, Bangkok will make history as the Marriage Equality Bill comes into effect, allowing equal marriage registrations for all couples across the city's 50 districts. This landmark legislation has been embraced with a celebratory spirit, with districts preparing to mark the occasion with festivities and special events.

Bangkok's Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has confirmed the city's readiness, stating that service systems and registration officers have been trained to offer inclusive and seamless services. To accommodate the surging interest, Siam Paragon, alongside Pathumwan and three other district offices, will provide a special registration service stretched from 8am to 6pm. Among the over 322 couples already pre-registered, a notable 190 have chosen Siam Paragon to celebrate their special day.

Each district is adding its own flair to the celebrations. Bangrak district, celebrated for its romantic reputation, is hosting an event filled with cakes, themed foods, and keepsakes. The first couple to register there will win return flights to Chiang Mai. Bang Sue district, under the theme "Honest Love Starts Here," is gifting the first 20 pairs with restaurant vouchers. Meanwhile, Sai Mai district offers its first 50 registrants gift vouchers, T-shirts, and bags.

Further afield, districts like Bang Khae and Phra Khanong have collaborated with local businesses to provide memorable extras like photo booths, appliances, and gas cards. Governor Chadchart encourages couples to cherish this momentous event and for residents to join in the city's celebration of love and equality.

Bangkok's move to implement the Marriage Equality Act positions the city as a leader in equality while fostering an atmosphere of love and inclusivity.
