In the UK you are given a mild sedative and a small amount of valium 20 minutes before.

You know nothing and experience no pain etc

I have had two colonoscopies.

Got them both done at one of the RAM hospitals.

Cost was about 25,000 baht each.

The op is no problem but the bowel prep is not pleasant

Tell me about it! Had a couple of accidents trying to get to the toilet on time. That laxative is strong! The next day I changed my mind anyway, so was a waste of time. Pattaya/ Bangkok hospital charge 30,000 baht for camera at both ends.

Year and half ago I had one done at Loei General, under 10,000. Many people do not realise that it is the same doctor in private hospital has general

I had one done at the Sriphat Hospital in Chiang  Mai.

It was 25K THB, but it was a package, which includes conscious sedation ( you feel nothing); fees for Surgeon; Nursing; Admin. and if polyps ( growths) are seen during the procedure they will be removed.

 I had 2 removed.

Procedure can take up to or less than an hour.

You are likely to pass bloody motions later, once only, usually.

But may have an Irritable bowel after, depending on several factors.
I am sensitive to spicy food; some diary products and beer!

I paid separately for a Consultation visit and the bowel preparation meds( which by the way was comfortable for me ). It’s essential that your bowels which are very long is entirely clean, some foods eg meat, can remain in the bowel for several days. This can block the sighting of the surgeon and procedure has to be repeated.

I also had to pay separately for a follow up appointment and the results of the pathology specimen. A sample is taken during the procedure and tested for cancer.

Mine was negative thankfully!

But it was value for money.

I have been a Head Nurse for an Endoscopy and Day Surgery Unit so my judgment is based upon my professional experience.

In the UK there’s a long waiting list, possibly being reduced now, unless you go privately.

Good luck.

It is not normal to pass anything bloody after a proper colonoscopy unless one has problems

I would had one done or the second one done at Ram hospital in Chiang Mai and I noticed it before the preparation if you mix a little bit of like lemonade and with the mix it makes it easy to drink it that’s about the hardest part and knocked me out within an hour I’m wide awake no headache no bleeding in blood no bad effects whatsoever it’s my second one I have every 5 to 8 years For some reason I wanna say it was around 25,000

25 - 35K at a private hospital...with periodic  promotions at lower rate.

Not sure how readily one can get this at government hospitals in Chonburi nor which (if any) govt hospitals there have the capacity (many provincial and community hospitals, and even some regional hospitals, do not).

In Bangkok, can get it at  Chulabhorn Cancer hospital (government) , under 10K last I heard.   https://chulabhornhospital.cra.ac.th/

Yes, you’re correct.
Apologies, mine was bloody because of the removal of polyps, and I didn’t make that clear.

I do most everything at Bumrungrad and as someone else quoted 34k baht a couple of years ago. I did pay for my Gf (Thai) to have a colonoscopy done at Bangkok/Pattaya and the fee was 20k baht. May be a price just for Thai.
