Social Media Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Donald Trump's appearance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) may have been virtual, but its impact reverberated throughout the gathering. For three days, he loomed over discussions, dominating conversations from afar. On the fourth day, he addressed the forum directly from the White House, delivering a speech that left no doubt about his administration's combative stance on global economic relations, particularly with Europe. The forum, known for its mix of global financial leaders, political figures, civil society representatives, and celebrities, witnessed a speech brimming with confidence in U.S. economic power. Trump launched a direct challenge to those not aligned with his vision. Initially adhering to familiar themes of his domestic agenda, Trump soon shifted his focus. Spurred by a question from Stephen Schwarzman, co-founder of Blackstone Group and a former adviser, he addressed the frustrations of many businesses over European Union regulations. Trump criticized what he viewed as unfair trade practices and taxes imposed on American companies. “They don’t take our food, they don’t take our cars, but they send us cars by the million,” he declared, pointing to what he described as a trade imbalance. He also took aim at EU demands for $15 billion in back taxes from Apple and ongoing investigations into American tech giants like Google and Facebook. “These companies, like them or not, are American companies. Nobody’s happy with it, and we are going to do something about it,” he asserted. While emphasizing his frustrations, Trump also presented a stark offer to businesses. He proposed a corporate tax rate of just 15% for companies willing to shift their manufacturing to the United States, coupled with the threat of tariffs for those that chose otherwise. This bold proposition underscored his commitment to reshaping global trade in America’s favor, even if it risked retaliatory measures. In the audience, leaders from the European Central Bank, World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, and various government officials reacted with visible unease. Trump’s rhetoric was unapologetically disruptive, making clear his intention to challenge the status quo. As if to underscore his point, Trump highlighted a massive $600 billion investment promise from Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, suggesting he “round it up to a trillion.” He positioned this as a testament to America’s economic appeal and its ability to command significant global investments. Trump did briefly touch on the pressing issue of the war in Ukraine, referring to the "millions of dead bodies lying on the flat fields" and calling for peace efforts to begin. However, he offered little clarity, remarking that the path to peace lay with Russia. “Ukraine is ready,” he added, leaving the audience to grapple with the implications. As the forum drew to a close, attendees departed Davos under no illusions about the disruption Trump’s policies could bring. The week had started with speculation about what a potential second Trump term might mean for the global order. By its end, delegates from across the spectrum of money, power, and influence had a clearer picture: one defined by disruption, unpredictability, and an unwavering push for American dominance. His language is so horrid and plain wrong at times but... Hoping you are surprised that his patriot posture, forceful disruption amidst a declining world order with rising challenges from evil autocratic forces and aligned western goons will provide more benefits than pain, especially in conflicts and health generally. It's time. 1 1 2 1
bendejo Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Whoever decided to use that big screen for him should be shot. Or forced to watch Jude Law movies for 72 hours uninterrupted. That pic in the OP will float his ego alright. 1
Popular Post kingstonkid Posted January 25 Popular Post Posted January 25 The trouble that a lot of these countries have is that there is internal stife and people are ot happy. The EU is a mess with the protests and everything. Their open borders idea did not work, and ow theyhave the same issue as the U.S. but do not have leaders that can resolve the issue. TRUMP has a mandate from the American people to Make America GREAT AGAIN they did not vote tomake the EU, China or anyone else great again no That is his thought adn he is going to make it happen. If the Netherlands or Switzerland don't like it, frankly, Americans don't care. They care about american jobs, american wages, american security and having a great country. Imagine if all the money spent on Ukraine had been spent properly on keeping jobs in the U.S. 1 1 4

Popular Post roquefort Posted January 25 Popular Post Posted January 25 Great to see the Davos crowd squirming in their seats as Trump tells them a few home truths. Even more fun was Javier Milei's speech. Pity he didn't bring his chainsaw with him. 1 3

Better that they gave it to a GOOD CAUSE, and with the Money that they have saved by NOT having to destroy all their old weapons, they can get their Armament Factories building NEW BETTER weapons, to sell at a bigger Profit elsewhere ! 1 1

phetphet Posted January 26 Posted January 26 We don't want your chemical laden food Donald. Please keep it in your US bubble to feed your worker ants. They will need the energy for the long hours they work with hardly any holidays, no holiday pay, no sick pay, no maternity leave, or workers rights. 1
OneMoreFarang Posted January 26 Posted January 26 They should have put Trump on a small screen, maybe next to the toilets. Let him talk. 1
JonnyF Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Go get 'em Don. The WEF is a disgrace. As is the EU. It's about time someone stood up to the charlatans. 1

They don't take your cars because they are inferior rubbish. Try improving them and things might be different. What a moron, people are laughing at America. 1
Briggsy Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Trump is just playing to the MAGA crowd. Behind closed doors, all this bluster is just put to one side. Look at all his supporters on here, lapping it up, believing everything he says. It is like those people who think the WWE is real. In fact there is quite a lot of overlap between these two groups. 1

This is spot on. Just like last time around (Mexico will pay for a wall etc).

I don't see how trying to lure companies back to the US is a bad thing. Let's wait and see who is smart enough to take the carrot. History shows foreign companies trying to operate in the USA go back to their own country with their tails between their legs, That's happened to a major company I used to work for. I can't remember who came up with the aphorism when you shake hands with an American on a business deal, you count your fingers afterwards. How many contractors worked for Trump on his properties, and regretted it bitterly afterwards? Some of the cases are still winding their way through the courts.
jas007 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 The WEF is fading away. Becoming irrelevant. The plan was to infest world's governments with "Young Global Leaders." Carefully groom them and indoctrinate them into a scheme to establish a "New World Order." The plan: most will eat bugs, own nothing, and be happy living in 15 minute cities, while the elite will continue to eat steak, drink champagne, and jet around the world on one big vacation. Two distinct classes of people, two sets of rules. And it all includes a massive reduction in the world's human population. It's no big secret who will be earmarked for the planned population reduction. The useless eaters. The "floating island of garbage." What was Hillary's term? "The basket of deplorables"? That was the actual mindset. They believed their own nonsense and thought they were invincible. The scheme has taken years to unfold, beginning well before the WEF was ever envisioned. But somehow, the man behind the curtain has been exposed. Lies can't survive in the light of day. The truth is coming out. The Wizard is not great and powerful. Just some sad old man. That wasn't part of the plan, though.

Already attacked NATO, UN, WHO, UNHRC, IMF, WBG, WTO, IPCC, ICC, G7, G20, OECD, NAFTA/USMCA, OAS, ASEAN, CMA, UNESCO, ILO, FATF, and IAEA. Besides pronouns, he obviously hates acronyms! Next up: ‘IRS,’ followed by ‘FBI,’ just for good measure.
