Are AN forums addictive?

Sure, and 99% of the time I ignore them. Because that is the whole point of the ignore list, that I don't see comments from people which I don't want to see.

My favorite is when I see a whole page of alternating posts by two members who I ignore who seem to be bickering with each other.

Then I feel that ignoring was a good choice.

For me it's a mix. I work on my PC. And sometimes I want a break. Then I will likely look here. And depending on how much work I have, I take more or less times for those breaks.

I'm sadly addicted to reading the distressing daily posts about air pollution and road accidents.  If there was no AN (or social media) I think I'd be happier (and oblivious).

Couldn't care less about your ignore list and I am not interested as to whether I am on it or not as it doesn't have any effect on me at all .    Makes absolutely no difference to me at all

For me, it is a way of staying mentally active. I like to think I can contribute knowledge and experience as well.

Slightly addictive, when I get on a thread of a topic which strikes a chord with me.

I do take a break occasionally, when I have had enough of suffering fools gladly.

That's the only reason I'm still on here.

no .....   it's because I've been bored for the past 20 years  :burp:

sorry,  your knowledge and experience hasn't helped me one bit in 20 years  :drunk:

It can be extremely useful.

Unfortunately it is nowhere near as good as it was. There were previously many very knowledgeable posters and it was possible to obtain advice and information on a wide range of subjects.

Nowadays, if you post anything requiring specific information, it is usually ignored or several posts about Pattaya's Soi 6 appear.

Many of the posters with even a moderate degree of sophistication, education and knowledge of Thailand other than bars and hookers have moved on.

That's probably because you lack the ability to comprehend it.

I like to point out that as far as I understand those are the number of positive reactions. Not the number of posts.

My guess is there is a positive correlation between the number of posts and the number of positive reactions.
Positively.

Obviously more posts might bring more positive reactions.

But there are some people here who don't get positive reactions, even when they post all the time.

Personally, I like when people agree with me. But if they don't agree, and best case write why not, then that is also fine with me.'

The idea is conversation, and obviously for conversation we need different standpoints.

So, in general, I avoid listening to him.

So then how can you honestly talk about him?

First, who in his right mind would want a job like that?

So the US ends up with the best of the leftover. Biden, Trump, who could claim that these guys are right there at the top?

But that is the best that the political 'right' has to offer. Take it or leave it.

But no other option is there....

Regards...

I read a lot about him. And I read it from different sources. I don't really have to listen to him in person to know that he made stupid comments about Greenland, Panama, Canada, to name just a few.

Then the fact that he pardoned all those Jan-6 people, even when they attacked police officers.

There are so many bad things which Trump does all the time which we know by just following the news.

And even his MAGA fans don't deny that he does all those things. But for whatever mysterious reasons they think what he does makes sense or is funny or whatever.

I am sure some smart and honorable people would want that job if voters would vote for smart and honorable people. But it seems in the USA and many other countries voters vote again and again for crooks with a big mouth.

90% is entertaining in as far as watching retarded puppies run into walls is amusing.

10% is useful info sharing.

Lets be honest, only the visa and health sections are any use, the rest is mostly nonsense by one flew over the cuckoo like inmates and a few liberal losers.

I very much doubt that it is restricted to positive reactions.  It's more likely about overall engagement.

If you look at the "popular" posts on a topic, you often see a post that is being reacted to negatively.

I will probably get this topic removed I've got a few on the go.

AN formerly ThaiVisa has been hugely helpful to me in the past and also currently.

I haven't used it for a few years with living in different parts of the world but more recently it is has become a community to turn to especially after moving way out into the sticks.

I still maintain a place in the city and am back there in a couple of weeks so there will probably be peace from my posts!

@ moderator huge respect to you guys and the community in general.

I have lived away from my home country a couple of decades nearly and having something like this where you can discuss things with like minded people and get advice even if it is harsh sometimes is a winner!

I don't work for AN just in case anyone is wondering 🙂

What do other people use it for especially the guys with thousands of posts?

I think or you it is.

Maybe one of the admins can enlighten us all.

Boredom, keeping up with interesting news, seeing the opinions of others, contributing to the overall debate on something.

Other places you can comment on are things like YouTube or Reddit, but YouTube is kind of random and not any chance of a debate and Reddit is a left wing hell-hole.

It seems kind of standard these days to watch or read something online then comment on it.  I actually find myself thinking of a question or comment to post while I watch Netflix, only to remember that it has no such feature.

Looking at the amount of post you make. You can't get that much work done 5555

But at least you try to help and and don't seams to attack other members all the time like some do here.

So why not.

I don't understand.

As far as I see if a person is on the ignore list then he stays on that list until I remove him.

I don't think I ever ignored the same person twice - except if it was a reincarnation with another member name.
