I sort of get the feelinfpg you are describing your time here.

I did my toursit stuff 20yrs ago in my early 20's so know how it all works. But i'm still able to get westerns and prefer a bit of banter and conversation.

20s is a bit young to be doing the bar scene.

You should have been out there getting freebies.

The bar is for old fat people like me who has no choice.

Then why start this pointless  thread?

John, you are by far the most argumentative, petty, petulant individual I have ever had the displeasure of meeting online.

What on earth is your problem?

1 plate Larb moo, spicy little bit.

1 plate Nam tok, spicy little bit

1 plate fried beef with chili sauce

1 big beer of your choice.

Is that as good as it gets or what?

Elvis.

Larb Nua, far better, with Som Tam Thai, replace fried beef by Nua Ded Diow or Sua Rong Hay, add some sticky rice...

You never talked about it having to be a Thai dish.

Add some Sashimi.

Stop being argumentative.

Yet another one who lamely resorts to accusing those expressing different opinions of being "argumentative" and then thinks that they're in a position to tell them how to post!

I was, some friends however were not as amazing good looking or witty as me, so the bar scene was guaranteed😎, I also did a few months in Hua hin, the western chicks are very limited, Sam Sam bar was the only real place and 99% Thai chicks

Sounds terrible.   Fat, oil and booze are not good, especially for old men.

A grilled piece of Salmon, veggies, and water sounds much better.

Farmed salmon with all the chemicals, coloring and pesticides?... As a Chef I haven't eaten farmed salmon  in over 20 years...

Using food to virtue signaling and demonstrate your superiority. Aint you fokking special.

Not special, after reading the stats for most developed countries, just more healthy if one is coznizant of the facts.

I don't find the OP's combo particularly wonderful but taste is subjective and I know what he means about the bliss of a magical combo.

Had a Sichuan Chinese meal the other day that was memorable that way.

Cold poached chicken in a chile sesame sauce

Mala (hot and tingly) hot pot with sea bass filet

Grilled cumin incrusted lamb skewer

Rice of course
