  • Russia never wanted to gain territory. The aim was the de-militarisation of Ukraine and for NATO to stop expanding to Russia’s borders. Seems like they are successfully achieving this and more besides

Today, August 28, in the Azov Sea, the Ukrainian military struck a small missile ship of Russia, Buyan-M, which is a carrier of cruise missiles Kalibr. The hit was recorded on video, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR).

As the intelligence officers told, the operation was carried out in the Azov Sea near temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result, a small missile ship of Russia of project 21631 Buyan-M – carrier of cruise missiles Kalibr – was struck.

Fighters of the special unit of HUR Ghosts damaged the ship’s radar system with a strike of an aerial drone, and special forces attacked the side of the Kalibr carrier.

Of course the Russian military is not aware of these cell units and is not capable of removing them. And of course, Russian carriers will allow foreign-issued SIM cards to register and freely transfer data in a war zone.
Class A analysis!

They used the Ukraine phone network to issue orders. Its how Ukraine was able to geolocate positions.

I wouldn't put it past the Russians to be stupid. They could have gotten hold of any number of free full sized Chinese pickups, but ordered Dodges??

Trump doesn't help. He hurts.

He's on again to the Kremlin lie that Ukraine is to blame for the war even happening. What a shameless sleaze bucket that "president" is.

According to a statement from the Ukrainian General Staff at the time, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, working in close collaboration with Ukrainian Defense Forces, struck the port of Olya in Russia's Astrakhan region, which is on the Caspian Sea.

The Kyiv Independent noted that the port of Olya is used by Russia to receive weapons, munitions, and drone parts from Iran. However, the strike was the first direct attack of its kind made on the port, according to a report on the incident from The War Zone.

“It also appears to be the first time that Ukraine has successfully targeted any kind of vessel in the Caspian Sea area,” The War Zone continued, marking the attack as one more extremely significant moment in the nearly four-year conflict.

one of your friends.....no details...but he is in a thing.....no proof etc. Why do people post this type of drivel.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in Samara, Russia, had stopped working after a massive attack by Ukrainian attack drones.

The drones hit the primary oil refining units AVT-4 and AVT-5, which are critical for the entire production cycle.

The UAVs also hit a liquefied natural gas overpass, a gas pipeline, a gasoline pipeline, a hydrogen production unit and a diesel fuel tank, causing several fires.

The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery has a refining capacity of about 7 million tons of oil per year and is one of the leading oil refineries in the Volga region. It is owned by the Russian state-controlled company Rosneft and processes oil produced by the company in Western Siberia and the Samara region.

To be fair, the drivel started with the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, August 7 2023, when she alleged Ukraine was doing this with their dead soldier. Go moan at the Russians for starting this sort of thing.

Today, it is clear that we receive not only the bodies of tortured prisoners of war during exchanges but also bodies that are unfortunately missing internal organs. This confirms that the black market for organ transplantation in the Russian Federation is active and, regrettably, involves our prisoners of war. Therefore, I believe this information must be shared with the entire world to halt this crime.”” said the wife of one of the prisoners of war, a defender of Mariupol.

Russian units in the Dobropillia area have been encircled and are being eliminated. Ukrainian forces managed to cut off the so-called "crab claws" formed by the Russians, reports Viktor Trehubov, Spokesman for the Dnipro Operational-Strategic Group of Troops.

"At least for now, the Russian units that advanced directly toward Dobropillia, these 'crab claws,' have been cut off and are encircled. They won't be there for much longer," Trehubov said.

Military experts and analysts suggest that Russia has likely abandoned attempts to expand its breakthrough near Dobropillia. This followed the encirclement of some of its units after counterattacks by the Defense Forces.

Last week, on August 19, a shootout broke out among Russian forces in Kherson region. As a result, more than 20 people were killed and others were injured, according to the Telegram channel of the partisan movement ATESH.

According to the publication, the events took place on the left bank of Kherson region. The armed clash occurred between units of the 127th reconnaissance brigade and the 24th motorized rifle regiment.

"It all started when servicemen of the 24th regiment opened fire on the positions of the 127th brigade. In turn, they mistook them for a Ukrainian sabotage and assault group and raised a reserve unit on alert. As a result, a chaotic firefight broke out," the report said.

On August 28th, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine revealed that special forces from the intelligence agency’s Department of Active Operations attacked a part of a Russian S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system in Crimea. The strike was important for several reasons.

Video footage of the daring operation was published alongside a statement about the attack. The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) reported that the attack was carried out using fixed-wing drones, which hit and knocked out a Russian 91N6 radar station.

The Ukrainian military news outlet Militarnyi reported that Russia’s 91N6 radar is used to provide detection, tracking, and targeting information for the S-400 Triumf missile system.

“Disabling this radar station is part of an ongoing campaign to suppress air defenses in Crimea,” Militarnyi noted. The operation was conducted by Ukraine's ‘Prymary’ special unit, which has been overseeing the drone war on Crimea and attacked another key radar in late July.

CNN reports that the Trump Administration has approved the sale of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles to Ukraine.

The ERAM missiles, CNN writes, have a range between 150 and 280 miles (240 to 450 kilometers) and could be delivered to Kyiv later this year.

“Up to 3,350 ERAM missiles and 3,350 navigation modules to counter spoofing will be procured,” Ukrainian Presidential Office Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak wrote on social media, as quoted by The Kyiv Independent, confirming the 825-million-dollar deal.

we all knew Trump is a Russian asset and was played by Putin, we also know (Trump does not know 555) that Putin has no intention whatsoever yo stop the civilian carnage in Ukraine and he completely makes Trump look bad on a daily basis, Trump threats about secondary tariffs and that Russia will see it coming it's just the usual ranting blablabla from him and the Kremlin ignores anything and everything out of Trump's mouth, the Russians just confirmed their readiness for the autumn rampage... Trump uses the typical date line of the ""next 2 weeks"" to cover for something, Putin just answer him with the below statements

The Kremlin has confirmed that it will continue its full-scale invasion of Ukraine throughout autumn in a major blow to Donald Trump’s peace efforts.

The US president has repeatedly declared that Russia wants to end the war, even going as far as to tell Emmanuel Macron that Vladimir Putin “wants to make a deal for me”

On August 21, he said he would know “within two weeks” if Putin was serious about entering negotiations.

And it seems Russia offered up an answer this weekend.

Ukrainian defenders have managed to liberate the settlement of Novoekonomichne from Russian forces. The village is located near Pokrovsk, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Assault groups of the Skelya regiment liberated the village of Novoekonomichne in the Donetsk region. It took two weeks to gradually, street by street, clear the area," the General Staff said in a video.

They added that on August 31, Ukrainian troops raised the Ukrainian flag in the center of the settlement.

France and Ukraine are working on launching drone production for the Ukrainian army, which could be organized in both countries, French Ambassador to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière said.

"Our Minister of Defense announced that the project will be implemented jointly with a very well-known French company, a leader in the field of manufacturing.

This could become a very interesting initiative, as it concerns the supply of a large number of high-quality drones. Production may be organized either in both countries in parallel, or first in France and then in Ukraine. At the moment, this is still under discussion," Veyssièree said.

I've been banging on about this for along time - the maths just don't add up. The west does not have infinite supplies for Ukraine when their domestic markets need these resources for themsleves.

Ukraine War Leads to Global Shortage of TNT
Mining materials to make cement, gravel and a host of other common products require an explosive that is becoming more expensive and limited in supply.

A second and important source of supply for commercial use had been TNT recovered from munitions like land mines, shells and bombs that the Pentagon regularly decommissions. While the weapons were deemed too old for use by American troops, the explosives inside of them were typically still fully viable and could be recycled.
But according to officials in the civilian blasting industry, those sources have dried up as the U.S. military has elected to keep older weapons in its arsenal since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Poland had been the Pentagon’s sole authorized supplier of TNT. But it has been sending much of what it makes across its border to Ukraine, which is using all that it produces for its own military purposes.
That comes as two of the other main sources of TNT, Russia and China, have stopped exporting to the United States, the officials said.

Q: So, where is the nitrocellulose made?

A: The ones that we’re aware of, personally, China makes that as well, in large quantities. We’ve got a contract to procure some from Taiwan. There’s also a factory in Brazil. Most of these factories that exist don’t do high volume. We work with a propellant manufacturer in Canada, and their annual requirement for propellant is about 5,000 metric tons. So that’s a lot of nitrocellulose.

The problem: Ukraine was one of the largest supplier of TNT to the US before the war.TNT is toxic and setting up factories in western countries is pretty heavy regulated, so it's not that easy.

India+China got hit with high taxes and the rest is funnelling their production into Ukraine. I guess mining in the US just got more expensive and less competitive. Wasn't that what Trump wanted?

Army General Valery Gerasimov, Russia’s Chief of the General Staff, has found himself in the crosshairs of his country’s own military bloggers after his recent battlefield claims.

On August 30, he stated that Russian forces had seized 3,500 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory and captured 149 settlements since March 2025.

Fact-checking Gerasimov’s claims, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) assessed that Russian forces had gained only around 2,346 square kilometers and captured 130 settlements between March and late August — not the 3,500 km² and 149 settlements he reported.

.South Korea's spy agency estimates that some 2,000 soldiers deployed by North Korea to fight for Russia have been killed, a South Korean lawmaker has said.

According to Western and South Korean intelligence services, North Korea has deployed over 10,000 soldiers to Russia last year — mostly to the Kursk region, which borders Ukraine. Pyongyang has also provided Russia with artillery shells, missiles and rocket systems.

Lee added that the NIS believes North Korea is preparing to send an additional 6,000 troops.

"It is assessed that out of the recent third deployment plan of 6,000 troops, around 1,000 combat engineers have arrived in Russia," the lawmaker said.
