Good news, its all panned out quite nicely so far, both the US and Canada should benefit.

"Despite a North American dialogue on the public health impacts of illicit drugs since 2016, Canadian officials have acknowledged that the problem has only grown.  And while U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) within the Department of Homeland Security seized, comparatively, much less fentanyl from Canada than from Mexico last year, fentanyl is so potent that even a very small parcel of the drug can cause many deaths and destruction to America families.  In fact, the amount of fentanyl that crossed the northern border last year could kill 9.5 million Americans."

And the best news from this nonsense is that Canadians have realized they don't want the right wing loony Canadian Republican party (Pollierve?) to get into power and the liberals will likely maintain control at the next election.

That 1.3b plan of Canada was designed a year or so ago, and it was on the card to be implemented, just mentioned here as a feel good factor for you know who...!

Many sources have reported that only 1.5% of the drug mentioned is coming through the northern borders...! Shouldn't they be more concerned about other 98.5%, than raising hell with their closest ally and start an economic war with them...?

The drug and border are just excuses for executive orders, without it any of this has to be approved by lower/upper houses that never would , the real reason is somewhere else of course, and they know it well, can no longer compete with Canada, Mexico, China, etc. etc. ..., yes, it's tough now...!

So its now finally implemented after waiting for a year, great! Feel good about the progress that's not the only part of the deal.

Sure. Great news. Now the US is dubiously  protected against an exiguous of all the fentanyl coming into the states. And what exactly is the benefit? That a threat that never should have been made won't be carried out for the time being? That a country thatruns one of the smallest percentage trade surpluses with the U.S. is being threatened? And if  you take away the oil and gas imiports, which Trump previously pushed for, it actually runs a deficit with the U.S.  And I guess you consider it a good thing that the United States can no longer be trusted to uphold signed and ratified agreements. Why would anyone want to sign onto an agreement with the US given that the terms of said agreement could be flouted at any time?

Yep, its all right there in the link & in the statement already released by Justin. You don't seem very happy about the deal being done and no more Tariffs

No more tariffs? As for the statement released by Justin, do you think it might just possibly be the case that is private opinion might vary from what he's offered to the public?

Ridiculous, puerile comment. Trump is by no means the first President to contemplate a move to absorb Canada into the USA.

Correct. The deal has been done. I take what Justin says as a true and honest representation of what he actually means. You can make something else from it, up to you.

People forget we actually fought a war over Canadian u.s. border.

Canada is a separate country but our heritage is almost in joint with the u.s.  our military train together.

We have many Canadian businesses linked together.

Consider one of the main American banks is actually Canadian.  Did any Americans here wonder what TD stands for.

That being said Trudeau fell inline with the Biden Kool aid

Immigration from India and china is through the roof with many families trying to walk into Minnesota from Canada.

Trump's simply saying that if Canada wants to get all the benefits of the u.s. then they might as well be part of the family.

An example of a different but same is I had a friend that was always at our house ate dinner and always seeed to be at our house more than his.  My dad queried why not make it permanently and just become another son

This is a slap at Trudeau that woke up more people in Canada.

Canadians are not going to give up what we have.  Once Trudeau is gone then things will start to settle down.

Do you take all official statements from heads of state as representing what they really believe? That there is no such thing as being diplomatic?

Another empty taunt. You have produced no evidence to support trump's claim that $50,000,000 was used to buy condoms in Gaza. You've got nothing.

And of course if Trump makes a claim or a promise, it's bound to be true. Remember that 200 billon dollar deal with China? The one where China promised to up its imports of US goods by that amount.  It ended up being zero.
