Elon Musk looks to dismantle his own potential regulator
Elon Musk has spent years laying the groundwork to transform X into a digital payments platform. Now he appears to be helping dismantle the agency that would oversee it. Over the weekend, the Trump administration ordered a halt to effectively all work at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the regulator that ensures companies like large banks, mortgage lenders, student loan servicers, and online payment apps don’t bilk their customers. It also barred employees from showing up to the agency’s Washington, D.C., headquarters this week, apparently following the playbook it used to rapidly shut down USAID earlier this month. Musk seemed to signal those moves were imminent on Friday afternoon, tweeting “CFPB RIP” just hours after members of his Department of Government Efficiency — aka DOGE — set up shop at the agency. “They did above zero good things, but still need to go,” he added later. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/as-he-targets-the-cfpb-elon-musk-looks-to-dismantle-his-own-potential-regulator-231008060.html -

Russian Airline Flight Makes Emergency Landing at BKK After Circling for 3 Hours
I think these 777's were leased from an Irish firm, then Russia seized them and was forced to operate them inside Russia or to accommodating countries. Aeroflot finally purchased these ten 777's from the leasing firm in early 2023. I think they are using some airframes (777 and A350) for parts. On a Thai aviation FB page there was mention of an issue with the landing gear not fully retracting. -

Bad idea. Why pollute the ocean when the SOP is to burn the fuel off rather than dump it? -

Thaksin Delays Yingluck's Homecoming: Return to Thailand Uncertain
I cannot say whether you are right or wrong here, but I cannot imagine countries jailing former PM's for things they done while in office. Look at Blair in the UK, if any PM deserved to be jailed it is him, does WMD and Iraq not spring to mind? I cannot believe that Yingluck has done worse than that, and don't forget the soldier who led an illegal coup and stayed in office here for nine years, protected only by soldiers, guns and tanks. Neither Yingluck or her brother have done worse than that either. -
