A man from Nakhon Ratchasima was found dead in a pond after being missing for two days, triggering a search operation by rescue teams.

At approximately 14:00 on the 4th of February, the local police station in Krabi district received a report about a missing person, identified as 49-year-old Mr. Tawee from Moo 3, Cha Sub-district, Krabi District, Nakhon Ratchasima. His family reported that he had been missing since Sunday, February 2nd. On the 4th of February, the family found his shoes and motorcycle parked near a pond, prompting fears that he may have drowned. They immediately alerted local authorities.

Rescue workers from the Hook 31 Korat team, alongside a team of underwater rescue divers, arrived at the scene to search for the missing person. The pond, located within the village, had murky water, and surrounding vegetation made the search difficult. The rescue divers, using ropes for safety, began their search underwater. At around 15:05, the team discovered Mr. Tawee’s body.

The family of the deceased mentioned that Mr. Tawee had left the house on Sunday, February 2nd, after asking for 100 baht. He had not returned home since then. On February 4th, the family found his personal belongings by the pond and began to worry about the possibility of him drowning. They also expressed concerns about the presence of large monitor lizards in the area that could have caused further harm to his body.

Initial investigations suggest that Mr. Tawee might have been swimming or fishing alone in the pond, but the cooler water temperature, may have caused him to suffer from cramps, making it impossible to reach the shore. His family does not suspect foul play, but they have agreed to have the body sent to Krabi Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death before proceeding with funeral arrangements.
