A dramatic incident unfolded on the morning of 8 February, when a pickup truck crashed into a bridge railing and overturned in the middle of Sukhumvit Road in Bang Saray, Sattahip. The driver then fled the scene, stealing a passing motorbike before being apprehended.

At around 09:00 Police Lieutenant Kunathip Khuykhamee, Deputy Inspector of Sattahip Police Station, received a report of an crash in front of the Boonthavorn Bang Saray store on the inbound Pattaya lane of Sukhumvit Road. He immediately dispatched officers along with rescue personnel from the Sawang Rojanatham Foundation to the scene.

On arrival, authorities found a white Toyota Hilux Vigo delivery truck overturned on its side in the middle of the road. The vehicle had collided with the bridge support, causing severe damage and knocking down a streetlight. Witnesses reported that the driver, instead of waiting for help, ran towards nearby pedestrians, shouting, “Someone is trying to kill me!”

At that moment, 42-year-old Rungarun Sacha happened to be riding past on her pink-and-black Honda Scoopy motorbike. She stopped to check if anyone was injured, only for the truck driver to suddenly seize her motorbike and speed away.

A quick-thinking bystander, later identified as 43-year-old Navin Siangpanit, immediately pursued the suspect in his car, while a passing highway patrol vehicle joined the chase. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Poramet, was soon apprehended and returned to Sattahip Police Station for questioning.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that after the crash, Poramet emerged from the overturned truck in a state of panic before stealing the motorbike in an attempt to escape.

During police questioning, Poramet appeared highly agitated. A subsequent drug test revealed narcotics in his system. He has been taken into custody and will face legal proceedings.

Probably to sober up from whatever he was on?

I was passed on  the railway line bypass road the other day by a kid on a bile being pursued northwards by 2 cops on another bike. The cop on the rear kept hitting the right and of the kid with some sort of staff. Quite impressive, but the cops should have more powerful machines really.
