the type of tourists visiting the island.

There is no type for the Thai government and TAT. The only thing that matters is how much the baht is spent in LOS!!

A street brawl involving foreign tourists outside Cafe del Mar in Kamala, Phuket, has gone viral on social media, sparking discussions about the type of tourists visiting the island.

The 1-minute, 37-second video, shared by the "โหดจัง จังหวัดภูเก็ต" Facebook page on February 14, shows a chaotic scene with intoxicated tourists exchanging blows while shocked bystanders look on. The fight, which began outside the popular nightlife venue, quickly escalated into a violent street brawl.

In the video, one man attempts to break a bottle over another's head, and others are seen throwing punches and kicks. A particularly alarming moment captures a man repeatedly kicked while on the ground, despite attempts by bystanders, including two women, to intervene.

The video's caption, expressing frustration over the incident, states, “It’s famous again. Free visa, quality tourists – drunk and fighting in Kamala, Phuket, causing trouble and damaging the island’s image again.” This highlights growing concerns about Phuket's tourism environment.

Social media users voiced mixed reactions. Many blamed lenient visa policies for the influx of disruptive visitors. Comments included, “Phuket is a beautiful place, but incidents like this ruin its reputation,” and calls for immediate deportation with suggestions to report the culprits to their embassies.

Others argued that unruly tourist behavior isn't unique to Phuket and shouldn't solely be attributed to visa regulations.

Local police are currently examining the footage and have promised to take legal action against those involved. Further details have yet to be released by authorities, reported The Thaiger.

The Mallorca of Asia.

Pearl of the Andaman my butt, more like a wart.

Saddest thing is that 30 years ago Phuket deserved to be called by that name....it was lovely.

I'm glad I had my good times there - sorry for those who'll never know what it was like.

Jealous of you old folks who got to experience thai beaches when they were paradise. Now they are mostly cesspits

Plenty of Thai beaches are paradise. Just not where the manbag wearing Benidorm refugees head

What do they expect, Thailand wants as many tourists as possible, so it should not surprise you that there are some like this among them, as already mentioned here before, it looks more and more like Benidorm, there too they were 'quality tourists', they just have to sit a bit longer on the plane, and there too you hear more and more disturbances.

I'd say it is part of "tourism". On the one-hand the PM wants to slacken the "strict" liquor laws, on the other Netizens want to enforce stricter visa rules. L

Thailand is making money. Drunk people are a common sight everywhere in the world.

My son worked there as the bar(s) manager and left the joint 3 months ago. Says, French Arabs are the worst kind...disrespectful, rude, aggressive, bothering women, throwing money into staff faces etc...Make no mistake, Cafe del Mar is an expensive joint with over 200 staff members but the clientele is absolute garbage.

I'm surprised they named the bar/club. They usually avoid that (scared of criminal libel charges).

That applies to most tourist spots in Thailand. The nightlife was certainly there 35 years ago but visitors now have no idea what they missed.

Was there in 2022.  Was much mor classy and no one had fights.

My root cause analysis to this problem is that there is a lack of women in Phuket now.  Back in the day, there were sooo many treats to go around, that men did not have time to fight.

Today, we have a lot of young, inexperience <deleted>, with Man Purses flaying at each other due to sexual frustration.

These boys have no clue on how to behave in Thailand.

Here is a hint, do not bring this behavior to Patts.  They do not eff around here.  You will be checked and reminded on how to behave.

The French Arabs love Ladyboys, and get frustrated when there are not enough around to "Play" with them.

Ahh yes, the pride and joy of France.

Let's see if the forum's pitchfork brigade will have as much venom for these people as they did for the mild incident in Pai.

Absolute scum. Money can't buy you any decent manners.

Btw, I've always thought the security has guns. One shot in the air probably let them scatter like headless chickens...
