The mindless actions of some for the sake of a damn "selfie" or for Tiktok, youtube audiences is getting ridiculous.

Well, if she posts to Youtube she'll get a few millions hits.  If she monetizes, it may help with getting a couple of prosthetics.

  • No one deserves it, but one can easily avoid the tragedy. It takes a special kind of stupid to approach an apex predator  and offer oneself up as prey.

Good idea then off to Africa in December for selfies with Lions, Elephants, Crocs and Hippos.

I feel bad for the woman, but I think it's a situation where we see all kinds of videos of people interacting with sharks and whatnot and people just think it's okay.

I'm surprised there's not more of this stuff.

It is a bit sad so many people think it's funny.

I few, like myself, think it's tragic, but at the same time you have to acknowledge that the stupidity of it makes you want to laugh out of a sense of the total absurdity.
Like shaking your head and laughing, but not because it's funny but because it's so ludicrous.

It is funny. She saw a deadly shark then walked or swam close to it. Would she do the same if a crocodile? No way. She must be dumb if does not realise sharks can kill.

A person being amputated of both their hands is anything but funny.

6' is small for a bull-shark and could easily have been mistaken for a reef shark.

What are you going to do?

Reminds me of Monty Python.

Rule 1 in life. Dont approach dangerous animals unless you are a professional even then some die.

Why risk it if you don't know. Bull sharks are known to swim in shallow waters close to shore. They go into rivers in towns. A 3 foot shark swam near me once then swam away. I wasnt going to chase it. Likely a baby bull.

I feel bad for this lady.  But, what was she thinking?

I won't post the video, just the Youtubes title.

Dumb guy. Lions hunt at night like tigers! They are most passive in the hot sun. Tiger Temple only allowed guests around middle of day. Zookeepers should know this. Lions went back to natural instinct of eating at night.

The shark was not attacking her, per se.

The shark just wanted the camera.

And, her hands got in the way.

Lures are shiny.

So are cameras.

A bull shark is born at 2-3 ft and bulls look like a few other sharks especially as juveniles. Sharks bite even from birth. She obviously didn't know how dangerous this shark was, even if she knew it was a bull, as they are the most dangerous of all shark species.

Lions and tigers also hunt during the day. All depends on the situations. They are usually nocturnal hunters but are also opportunists. Lions and other cat species do not belong in caged areas, but some people will never learn.

True but they have better night vision and mostly prefer to attack at night. At 5am lions would have been thinking food time. At 12pm they prefer to rest.

This lady is 55 years old.

Not some stupid spotty kid,  just out of Uni, who thinks they know it all.

No real sympathy from me.

But she sure has a learning curve in front of her now.

Yes, but a zoo isn't a normal habitat so that would make them act differently than in the wild. Most predators prefer night hunting because there is less stealth needed than daytime, and they do usually lie up during the day to rest and digest their food.

They jumped up as soon as he entered so they werent sleepy. I patted a large female Tiger at 1pm. She was sleepy. These lions looked hungry. He was just a piece of meat to them. He was breaking zoo rules though. Entering at 5am alone.

It is said that the hands make one human.

How will she be able to use tools without hands?

Dogs do not require hands, and do quite well, of course.

What is the difference when a lion lies up and lies down?

Do they do their lying-up up a tree?

I am aware that lying up is a nautical term.

Which means, for a ship, to, for example, lie up in a dry-dock.

So, maybe these lions are lying up for repairs, or something?

God, I hope the shark is ok.  Very traumatic to have to interact with a moronic human.

Tigers ,lions, leopards, hippos, elephants, etc are all wild animals, although they can be tamed to an extent. Deer have been raised as pets and killed their "owners". The cat family usually won't attack humans unless they have been harassed or wounded. Some, many in fact, have because they were old and couldn't catch their normal prey anymore. The problem is that they are capable of damage very fast. Just like regular cats that are pets, they can scratch and bite but usually don't cause too much damage besides the possibility of cat scratch fever. With large cats, they can damage a human very fast with just a scratch or bite. Anyone entering a cat enclosure needs to have protection with him. This person didn't and paid.

Lions usually don't climb trees, although they can, but lie up in the shade of trees on the ground. leopards will lie in trees. Tigers prefer overhangs to lie under and also under trees. Leopards will climb trees with their prey to keep it away from other animals, especially vultures and other meat eaters, but it is sometimes stolen by other cats or bears, so they usually lie close until they are done feeding on it.

3 or 4 lions will always be more deadly than 1. Guy must have been a novice.

They do well because they have paws, which they use as we do hands in many ways. I'm sure you knew this.

Tigers can climb high if chasing prey. Lions are too fat.
