Trump Joins the Axis. NATO Dead. WW111 Imminent?
Having sane superpowers protecting their allies would be an argument for less nukes (maybe not a 100% sane one, but the best we had so far). However, it has become very clear from the actions of the USA and Russia, that smaller nation states owning nukes is essential to protect themselves from the rapacious assault by those superpowers. I am quite sure that the economic damage to Russia due to the war in Ukraine is so big, that a break-up is unavoidable (compare what the much smaller Afghanistan war did to the USSR). So already the enlightened Europeans will need to find ways to disarm the resulting micro-states. The USA is in a very precarious economic situation as well. Affronting all of their allies while at the same time being in a debt death spiral with China is a sure way to put the ship on the rocks. Maybe a fascist coup is a way out of this, see what would have happened in the case of an unopposed Germany. However the chance is much higher, that Trump with his severely restricted world-view and limited intelligence role-playing as a fascist dictator will lead the USA into the same or worse situation as Germany 80 years ago. Which again would mean, that indeed the left-over states would have to be de-militarized. The question is only, how much porcelain will have been broken until the Americans and Russians have been subjugated by the free and democratic world? -

The man is off his head. Only the demented left would complain about a President trying to end two wars. And these clowns refuse to accept that when the Allies stood down in Europe we effectively lost half the continent to the communists. It was a price the Allies were willing to pay to end conflict. This new brigade of drivelous clowns cannot explain how Ukraine can win the war from here. They cannot win, all they can hope for is to minimise the damage done by a peace deal. Just the same way as the Allies decided charging into the Russian lines in 1945 wasn't worth it. -

US and Canada: Phone2 app -- a possible solution for 2FA banking codes or maybe not?
Your welcome. I called their toll free number earlier today, and they were the ones who told me that I could buy a SIM on eBay, have it shipped overseas, and activate it by calling them once I receive it. At first, the guy said I would need to insert the SIM into a phone to activate it before they could convert it to an eSIM. Then he corrected himself and said that if I didn’t want to do that, activation could be done through email once I had the SIM card in hand. I'm assuming that if you don't even want an eSIM that maybe you could just put the SIM in a phone and activate it that way. He didn't mention anything to me about not being able to activate it from overseas. But I don’t have any personal experience with this issue or this company, and I don’t plan to buy one of their SIMs as I am already satisfied with Numero. But if you want to call them and ask questions, here’s the number: +1-888-777-0446 -

You're a nutter if you think fragmented states demilitarize. Did you not see what happened after the Arab Spring? and all the ethnic battles across the globe? Get a grip on yourself. -

All I can tell you is that Numero works with a U.S. bank and as a phone number for a U.S. PayPal account. I received OTP verification codes from both today. Plus, I have a friend who has been using this service for the same purpose for over two years already without any issues. I don’t care about all the needless speculation around VOIP classifications. It’s just conjecture. And maybe some banks will stop allowing these numbers one day, or maybe they won’t. Then if something changes in a few years, you adapt and find another solution. But for now, you have an app that can receive OTP text messages from U.S. financial institutions for just €18 per year. If you want to keep speculating, debating “what ifs,” and searching for something better, go ahead, knock yourself out. But I am done.
