Pattaya

Bikies

Crooks

Hookers

Trash

Ladyboy thieves

Fights

Road deaths

Murders

The knife wielder is par for the course, maybe below average

I lived 25 years in Bangkok, and it is a lot worse for the above with the possible exception of bikies.

Lived the last 7 years in Patts on the darkside and never had any bother.

Tarnishing the image of a turd is hard to do'

I believe that one should not tarnish the image, or otherwise of a Turd.

As the old saying states; "If you don't eat you cannot  sh!t and you will surely die as (lack of) a result!

In other word we all need good sh!ts IMO.

I never had a real all-out fight or argument with Thai strangers in Thailand or foreigners in just under 10 years.....go back to UK in one of the 'safest areas' in my city and end up in a street fight across two roads with a nutter on booze and drugs defending chick I was on a date with.....haha.

a video emerged showing a man chasing a foreign tourist, with a large knife

I'd like to know know what the foreigner did to provoke the Thai.

Over the many years I've seen foreigners doing nasty, cruel things to the Thai's.

Shocking ... I think not, as doesn't it happen about once or twice a month.  In the news anyway.

Any luck it will happen more often, then maybe the tourist will start behaving :coffee1:

In Soi Post-office many years ago, I saw a Falang walking along the sidewalk get hung up on some ropes coming from the food vendors carts. He caught them around his neck and got angry and started pulling them all down until a food vendor chased him with a large knife. He ran into the HASH bar I was drinking at...none of the Falangs in the bar were going to help him.

If you want to cause trouble with the food vendors then you sort out the problem.

"Authorities are now awaiting further details from the victim, who has yet to file a formal police complaint."

So it is perfectly fine to assult tourists with a weapon and do nothing until the tourist makes a formal complaint?

when it's a foreigner,, its bad for pattaya's  reputation, when its thai, its bad for pattaya's reputation, so basically  pattaya's reputation is screwed,

Yes....  Clearly it was the foreginers fault that the Thai man was carrying a large knife.

If there were no foreigners to potentially offend this kind Thai gentleman, there would be no need for him to carry such a weapon as self defence...  :whistling:

Sarky.
