It occurs to me that US citizens have a rather twisted understanding of the "left". One assumes you do understand that human rights, social services for the less well off and so on, at least from a European POV were legislated by the "left". Is this not the case in the US?. At this particular point in time the current US Administration is disliked by a number of democratic countries due to it's drift to authoritarianism and political bullying, one could say "cruelty". I believe it's fair to say the USA was once considered a great country to be admired i.e. in the era of the Marshall Plan and JFK - for the moment, no longer.

Wasn't comparing, just posting my opinion USA was once "Great" and recognised as such. During the Vietnam War ramp up and after. no longer.

 

Please factually explain why the EU has been exploiting the US. Remember defence GDP percentile goals were agreed by Obama and overridden by trump in unilateral breach of the Agreement  IMO again trump demonstrates trump undermining the "word" of the USA, thus creating lack of trust. Trade as also been subject to mutual agreements which trump, again, is unilaterally trying to override. I don't believe JFK's speech you reference was talking to welfare but a vision for the USA e.g. the Space Race which was achieved.
