Songkran is coming and everyone gets a new shirt and a new water gun for the party. I thought this was a Thai forum.

Light shirts if eating out somewhere a bit special or t-shirts as a rule. Wife-beater singlets? Never in forty years that I've lived here. Who wants to be next to someone with sweaty armpits?

I love Songkran shirts in the heat because they don't show sweat like a solid or striped shirt.  I buy enough every season to last for a couple of years because they're not really made to last.  In between seasons, I can always go to the BoBae market near Hua Lampong train station and buy more.  They're even cheaper in the off season.

 

I get compliments all the time for the shirts back in the USA.

27/2 yesterday. I laughed when he said that. Songkran is April 13 to 15 but can start early and finish later. Glad I can educate a few. Duuuh

Tommy Bahama's have been a constant for seasoned travelers for years.....Easy to wear, hand wash and quickly use again....

I have TB's & Hilo Hattie's.....I don't wear often, but understand why others do....

I'll wear before SongKran + if running an errand I'll put one on open jacket style over Whatever T shirt I have on, rather than just a "T" shirt......

 

I wouldn't buy anything from Hawaii, too expensive.

I always wear long pants and a collared shirt in public in Thailand, except at the beach and at the pool.

 

Edit:  Got a kick looking for pics of pit stains and there are actually companies that sell shirts with pre-printed sweat stains.  Up to $350 for a T.

I live in Koh Phangan and there is always a good selection of Hawaiian shirts in the markets, at good prices. I first started wearing them when I bought a couple of Tommy Bahamas shirts in Santa Monica. Smarter than a t shirt on occasion.

Even though I live here, I would never show of my hairy armpits with some of the classless crap worn here.

Have not worn a singlet since the 80s. Most people just wear normal shirts.

You have obviously never been to the temple string tying event. Everyone wears them to welcome the new year. The hard part is finding cotton instead of nylon.
