In a troubling incident on Pattaya's bustling Walking Street, a security guard at a popular nightclub felled a British tourist with a single punch. The altercation occurred around 11:30 p.m., leaving the 62-year-old tourist unconscious and bleeding on the pavement after hitting his head.

The incident began when the tourist approached the guard, seemingly intent on confrontation. Video footage shows the guard backing away before the tourist attempted to push him. In response, the guard delivered a forceful right hook that knocked the tourist unconscious.

Volunteers quickly provided first aid to the injured man before he was transported to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. After the punch, the security guard promptly disappeared into the crowd.

Witnesses reported that the tourist had initiated the conflict, leading to the guard stepping aside and removing his uniform before the physical altercation ensued.

This latest incident raises concerns as it follows recent measures by the local authorities to increase tourism safety. Despite a recent meeting on 17 February between Pattaya's tourist police and regional law enforcement to enhance safety protocols, violent incidents involving security staff continue to surface.

Earlier cases include a 1st January assault where several club guards attacked a bartender, and a 27th December incident involving the assault of a Chinese businessman by multiple guards. Further back, on 24th May, British tourists were also attacked by club security, sustaining various injuries.

Efforts from the police to manage information regarding these incidents have been noted, potentially in an attempt to preserve the area's reputation, reported Channel 7 News.

So the 62 year old...almost retirement age, comes to Thailand or lives here and takes on a guy young enough to be his grandchild. Has a young Thai girlfriend/wife and lives on his pension from stacking shelves at Tesco...about sums up Thailand, along with all the dope heads... something has gotta change

So, the young bar security man felt so threatened by the 62 year old man that he had to attack the old man with a punch knocking him out.

This Op sounds more like they are trying to justify the guards actions by using the guard sidestepping a push from an old man.

I thought these guard are supposed to know and have means to subdue a drunken old man without causing physical harm or damage to the old man? If I was the old man i would try to make a case against the guard for assault and bodily injury.

Why do the police permit such violent attacks to tourists over a simple push or attempted push?

Shame on the guard and the Police there.

Did you even watch the video? The old Brit clearly wanted a fight. 62 years old is old enough to understand that if you F around you'll eventually find out. The Thai guy hit him one time, didn't punch or kick him while he was down, didn't attack him with multiple people, just one clean punch. It's not the bouncers problem that the brit has a glass jaw.

I understood the guard approached him, before he physically assaulted the guard by pushing him.The guard has every right to self defense, and to avoid, possible injury from a drunk foriegn person.

Perhaps he was defending himself from the Thai security guard by pushing him away from him.

Even if what you say is true. Bar security. Are supposed to be able to avoid physical altercations and they are not alone. This sort of stuff is what gives places bad reputations. Not the drunken old man, but the violence dished out by the people who work at the bar. I thought the police had some kind of training given to those bar security personnel after the last such instance a tourist got attacked and beaten by the bar security?

Which is more likely?

A) Brit gets knocked out and learns his lesson, no more drunken fights.

B) Brit get's coddled and this situation happens again except he gets beaten down by 7 thai men?

These cretins ruin the nightlife, not bouncers cleaning up the trash.

Just watched the video, the bouncer really stepped into that punch.

I'm not surprised the Brit was ko'd.

The Brit was oblivious and seemed to just walk right into it.

Don't know what video you watched.

The Brit pursued the bouncer who was walking away.

The bouncer hit him once.

Just another night in Pattaya. No Thai bouncer is ever going to lose and if they are the whole pack will descend. Still seems very hard for Brit wanna be tough guys to understand.

Absolutely not, good security work would be to subdue misbehaving patrons with minimal injury. Most of these thugs have taken their job because hurting, or worse, killing westerners gives them wet dreams. They are just animals.

You sure seem gullible to every word read is fact and truth..

what you should take away is a guy got knocked out by a bouncer…that is the only evidence…everything else is hear say or opinion

And you seem like you came directly from the protect the foreigner brigade. Now go back to your likes.

In the video, it looked like there were 2 other men following behind.

After the old man gets knocked down, the view is blocked for a moment and the 2nd guy lifts his leg in a kicking motion to the unconscious foreigner.

The 3rd guy appears to be recording it from his phone.

While the video does show the older guy chasing the bouncer, this video does not show what started the whole encounter.

62 year old got what he deserves. I'm 63 and never had any problems with the Thai people. My fighting days are over, especially when I've been drinking. Show respect and be on your best behavior when visiting someone else's country.

In Thailand?  With a Thai attacking a foreigner?  More like a couple of years then out and back in the same job like nothing happened.  🙄

The whole nightclub scene in the west is also stacked with thug bouncers. Its the same around the world.

My question is why a 62 year old would want to go to a nightclub.

This hyperbolic nonsense says more about you and your state of mind than it does about Thais
