Phuket Airport Announces Temporary Nighttime Runway Closures for Maintenance

Phuket International Airport is set to undergo significant maintenance work, starting from April 1. The repairs, which will focus on the taxiway and will require the temporary closure of the runway during overnight hours. The closure will take place between 00:30 and 07:30, with work scheduled to last until October 30, a span of seven months.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), in collaboration with Airports of Thailand (AOT), has already begun preparations to ensure minimal disruption to air travel during the maintenance period. To prevent flight cancellations, the two organisations are working on a detailed air traffic management plan, which will involve adjusting flight schedules for both takeoffs and landings. This strategy aims to ensure that flights are not impacted outside of the designated repair hours.

Passengers during that period, are advised to check their flight schedules and remain informed about any changes to their departure or arrival times, particularly for those flying during the early morning hours. Phuket’s busy airport, a hub for both international and domestic flights, will continue operations as usual during the day.

The airport’s proactive measures will help maintain the flow of air traffic while allowing necessary repairs to be carried out efficiently.
