She owns the condo we live un and pays for 100% for all her personal expenses and a small part of common expense like food and schooling.

I would say 8000 a month is reasonable. She can do with it what she likes, send it to mama or buy make  up.

But it would be better to pay it weekly, 2000 a week. Too much money is too much temptation.

I found Thai girls work best when they get 1000 or 2000 Baht. Give them more and the money is gone instantly.

Yes exactly. Pay them weekly if you must. Saying No sometimes. Give in on somtam gets favours.

I was hoping the reason for all this nonsense was a mental illness, it would be terrible for a sane person to behave like this (unless being paid to do so which is possible)

I figure he is joking. Most comments here are too serious.

Actually this is excellent advice, say No often. If you pay 8000 regularly they come to expect it, it would clearly breed expectation.

Better to do ad-hoc surprise payments. To avoid this ugly phenomenon of entitlement.

But you have to be careful. Unfortunately there are so many guys who pay exorbitant amounts of money and girls talk. If she feels she gets too little she'll be out of the door too.

Matey mate Bob,

lets get you a broom handle with a stuffed rubber glove attached to the end. We can write "atta boy" on the handle and you can give yourself a nice pat on the back.

Nothing. She is my wife, not my employee.

What a liar and scoundrel you are, pretending you don't pay. You paid, as sure there's taxes.

Call me what you like. I don't and have never paid her a "salary". Of course I buy her things from time to time because that's what you do when you're married to someone.

Good for you Bob. We all believe you. You are the man. Keep the posts coming. As an Aussie though we absolutely hate people that lie and even worse than that is someone that brags. That's pretty low. Nevertheless you just keep your self indulgent nonsense coming. It's always entertaining albeit very, very pitiful. For someone with a wife, girlfriends all over SEA, able to take a picture inside a taxi when you didn't have your phone, get charged for 4 bottles when you only had three (where was your wife or one of your numerous girlfriends to sort this out?), you sure seem to want attention.

It hardly matters what you call it. Do you pay her rent and food expenses?  Yes or no?
