There is no such thing as happiness.

For me, I am constantly striving for more.

I'm never happy with what I have, my current situation, how many women I have or how much I have in the bank.

I always want more..

This, I feel, is the key to success.

We only get what we will settle for.

If I didn't have this mindset, coming from a relatively poor family with limited opportunities - I would probably have ended up being a cleaner in Mcdonalds.

Sure, I may be content, but I would still be a cleaner in Mcdonalds...

regards,

bob.

Never worked as a cleaner.

There is no such thing as happiness.

Finally said something I agree with.

Happiness is an illusion promoted by salesmen and women- buy this and you'll be happy, marry me and you'll be happy, etc etc etc.

It's all BS.

I am basically satisfied with my life,

Wanting more can push you to achieve things, but if you’re never satisfied, you might never truly enjoy what you have.

Success isn’t just about accumulation—it’s also about growth, fulfillment, and knowing when to appreciate progress.

If your hunger for more keeps you moving forward, ok.

Just make sure it’s fueling you, not exhausting you.

What’s your endgame? What does “enough” look like to you?

Ill never be happy with what i have, but at the same time there is nothing that will make me immortal. Whats the point of torturing yourself over the mundane

I agree.

But they are rich.

They can have anything they want.

I think that's the tradeoff.

Happiness exists just like sadness does. But it only exists in your brain and body. It never comes from the outside world. It comes from your perception of the outside world. You have to create it everyday.

My endgame is to reach my full potential and keep on pushing for more.

More knowledge, more money, more women and more life experiences.

I'd rather die in a warm mansion, dressed in an armani suit, surrounded by gorgeous chicks than homeless, cold & alone on the street...

to the title ...

... always been happy.  sometimes not as happy as others, but could always think about that next orgasm, and that alone puts a smile on one's face 😎

when at one of them low points, it's always reassuring and makes one happy, when you realize, 'damn, things can't get much worse than this'  :coffee1:

Exactly. Happiness comes from within and is not dependent on possessions or other people. A monk can be happy with nothing. Conversely one can have everything and not be happy.

I've never met anyone in my entire life that is truly happy. Lots are contented, but that's not the same thing.

As the saying goes "money won't buy you happiness, but it allows you to be comfortable in your misery"

Vanity is the enemy of reason. The feelings those external things give you are only temporary, not lasting happiness

Happiness is an emotion. It tends to last a few hours at most. But you can do things to bring it back daily - music, movies, exercise, patting a dog, joking with people, nice food. It won't just turn up by itself.

both.

I'd be "happy" ( LOL ) to be content and comfortable. Unfortunately this old body keeps making me uncomfortable.

I only once came near to being truly happy in my life, and that was in Antarctica. Unfortunately, I had to live in a small base with <deleted> that kept stuffing it up. It's hard to be happy when the manager is a richard cranium.

If you got shipwrecked and had to live like Tom Hanks in Castaway would you still be happy? If not then you are only content, IMO.

I plan to live 2 to 3 years more.

Iam happy with my lot in life.

It really depends on definition of the state of feeling as some posters here are confusing happiness with satisfaction, achievements, contentment, fulfillment, pick your word. Narcissists are seldom happy. Thats why they try to create the illusion about their worth and importance and brag and exaggerate about their accomplishments.

To me, happiness is the State of Mind, to be discovered/noticed.

Rather than being given by someone else, or Grab at.

That is my ultimate conclusion to myself,  after living over 60 years by now.

When I was younger, happiness was something to pursue, try to realize by my own efforts(and I actually did hard to attain that, in my term).

I now recall, it was the essential passage for me to go through, to reach my current situation and environment where I feel quite happy with.

But now, to me, happiness is something inside myself, rather than outside it.
