A 41-year-old Laotian man, Varin, has been arrested in Nakhon Phanom after his 13-year-old daughter reported being repeatedly assaulted by him. The girl bravely sought help from local authority Sanor Pandang on March 8, revealing not only attempted rape but also threats against her family.

Varin, found disoriented at a construction site, was arrested by police led by Lieutenant Colonel Surachai Nakornsings. Without identification and displaying drug-influenced behaviour, he denied the allegations. A subsequent drug test confirmed methamphetamine use, resulting in charges for drug use and illegal entry into Thailand.

The investigation into sexual assault allegations will involve a multidisciplinary team interview at the prosecutor’s office. Should the girl’s claims hold, Varin could face additional serious charges.

The girl's aunt explains the distressing situation: Varin frequently took his daughter to work, and on one instance, unable to access adult material, he demanded intercourse. Upon her refusal, violence ensued, forcing her to seek refuge across the street.

The girl disclosed Varin's repeated sexual assaults and threats to murder her family if she reported him. The assaults reportedly took place both at her grandmother’s home and various construction sites, with Varin's intimidation tactics involving a machete.

Despite her terrifying experiences, the girl bravely recounted the incidents, sharing her ordeal of repeated rapes and threats of violence and arson. On February 17, another attempted assault led to her fleeing and ultimately reporting the abuse to her aunt.

This case highlights the seriousness of domestic abuse and the extradition of justice. Authorities are committed to supporting the victim’s pursuit of justice while addressing the perpetrator's serious offenses, reported The Thaiger.
