If our adversaries (Russia, China, North Korea, Iran etc. etc.) had a military alliance that would be a very very big problem for the West (a national security threat actually). There would be conflict, especially if it spread further west.

You know this. You are pretending you don't.

Making up reasons why countries may or not join is irrelevant. If it was happening to us - which it is for Russia - it would be an issue and likely war.

It's not at all irrelevant and it's you making up hypothetical examples.

The main reason why NATO expanded Eastward was that Russia's neighbours did not want to be dominated by Russia again. They joined NATwo to be protected from Russia.

You hypothetical situation still doesn't make sense.

Let’s hope they keep that child, Vance, out of the room this time.

The drone attack on Moscow was good timing > Russia unlikely to agree > Russia looks like the bad boy… but we already knew that.

It makes sense because Russia is currently facing the exact scenario I am describing.

What should they do? What would the US and UK do in Russia's current position?

Probably war. They have started wars for less.

And, BTW, NATO was created to fight the Soviet Union. Once the Soviet Union fell, NATO probably should have ceased to exist too and the West could have been friends with Russia, but instead it continued moving east towards Russia as an enemy (which it no longer should have been after the fall of the Soviet Union).

Okay, but expect conflict. Duh.

Russia expressed interest in joining NATO too, funnily enough, on multiple occasions, but could not. 🙄

Exactly. The only thing completely irrelevant is the Obama and later Biden Administration's appeasement of Putin.

Remember in the Debate when Romney claimed Russian was the greatest geopolitical threat, and Obama scoffing and joking; Senator, the '80s called and want their foreign policy back.

Remember Obama caught on a hot mike begging Putin for "space" until after the election in exchange for canceling missile defense, and Obama cancelling missile defense after he was reelected.

Remember the "Russian Reset".

Remember Obama's refusal to sell defensive weapons to Ukraine.
Remember Obama did nothing in 2014 when Putin invaded and began the occupation of Crimea.

Then Trump places sanctions on Russia.
Then Trump kills 200 of Russia's Wagner Group mercenaries in Syria.
Then Trump begins shipping arms, including Javelin missiles to Ukraine.

Now remember Biden cancelling sanctions on Russia, including those imposed by Trump to gain favor with Putin.
Now remember Biden halting arms sales to Ukraine to gain favor with Putin.
Now remember Biden's surrender debacle in Afghanistan, emboldening Putin.
Now remember Biden saying that the US would not respond to Russia invading Ukraine, if it were only a minor invasion, further emboldening Putin.

When did the left start caring about Ukraine anyways? The left seemed to care nothing about Ukraine until it became politically expedient for them to use in attacking Trump and to pretend Trump was a Russian asset.

You would rather see every Ukrainian dead and half of Europe flattened than to see a peace agreement negotiated by Trump.

As usual, Russian propaganda is accusing others of projecting to do what Russia actually did.

it's Putin who did exactly that by deciding to move nuclear missiles to Belarus, closer to NATO countries' borders despite the Budapest agreement and the accession of Belarus to the NPT
