A Nigerian man was arrested in Phuket after a viral video exposed a drug transaction involving cocaine. The video, shared by the Facebook page "Phuket is so brutal", captured two foreigners using the illegal substance by the roadside, sparking public outrage.

The video, posted on March 6, prompted a Swiss man, Sascha Teodorovic, to present himself to authorities on March 10. Teodorovic admitted to being one of the individuals in the footage and tested positive for cocaine use. He revealed that the cocaine was purchased from a Nigerian dealer, identified as Chimaraoke Wisdom Mabanaso.

In a sting operation on March 11, Phuket police posed as buyers and successfully arrested Mabanaso, seizing 0.82 grammes of cocaine. Along with the narcotics, police confiscated his assets, including a black Mazda 2 sedan and an iPhone 16 Pro Max, as per legal guidelines.

Mabanaso faces charges under Section 146 of the Narcotics Control Act for possessing and distributing Category 2 narcotics, which could result in up to 15 years in prison and hefty fines between 200,000 and 1.5 million baht. The incident underscores ongoing challenges in drug enforcement in the tourist haven, reported The Thaiger.
