A sleepy driver in Thailand had an unexpected wake-up call when police threatened him with a visit from his wife, jolting him from slumber behind the wheel. The unusual incident unfolded in bustling Nan City at 12.30 am on March 12, when locals noticed a pickup truck idling at a red light since 11 pm.

Concerned citizens, rescue workers, and police officers attempted various methods to wake the 40-year-old driver, including shouting, knocking, and vigorously rocking the vehicle, all to no avail. The 191 radio centre of Nan Provincial Police dispatched officers to the scene, coordinating with rescue teams from Nan Hospital.

Fearing the man inside might be unwell, there were discussions about breaking the window. However, an officer ingeniously shouted, “Your wife is here to get you!” This phrase instantly roused the driver, who awoke to a bemused crowd.

Upon realizing what had happened, the driver explained his exhaustion was due to assisting with a relative’s funeral. He had driven past his home by just 300 metres before fatigue overwhelmed him at the red light. It wasn't until the mention of his wife's intervention that he snapped back to reality.

The police, while amused by their unconventional success, issued a stern warning about the dangers of falling asleep at the wheel and assisted the driver in returning home safely. This peculiar episode underscores the amusing yet powerful influence of a spouse's imaginary presence in waking a dozing driver, reported The Thaiger.

Ha ha funny funny right ?

The guy was probably drunk and passed out. Local police found it cute where they should of administered a breathalyser.

What a joke these people are.

No it doesn't. It underscores a huge problem in this culture.
