I agree with most comments above.

I think Thais, in general, have no idea about dogs. In 12 years Ive rarely seen anyone walk their dog for exercise. Only once I think.

The other day I was at phrom pong bts. I saw a lady with 2 small ratty dogs in a pram. she started walking towards Empshere. She could have let the neurotic dogs out to walk that 500m. No. Too stupid. Dogs were whining being stuck in the pram. Totally clueless and stupid

Dogs are permitted in the Central Westville mall in Nonthaburi. I have never seen so many small lap dogs being pushed around in prams and pushchairs and being carried in papooses.

They often see dogs as vermin and have no problems letting them die from diseases on the sides of roads. The ones who like dogs do indeed seem to not understand them and are neglectful.

Keeping dogs as house pets appears to be a really new part of Thai society and they just don't know much yet. The business is booming though since birth rates collapse in Thailand and women are working office jobs and keeping pets instead of raising children at home like before.

Ive seen thais beat dogs and ive seen them beat kids. The transition should be seamless

I disagree  .....   so why allow 1,000,000 soi dogs to crap everywhere and bite kids. Why not destroy the vermin if that's the case instead of dumb thais feeding them on the street so they live and breed more vermin ???

I mean they see them as a lowly form of life. Why they feed them and then allow to become diseased and suffer is a mystery.

The other month I saw a puppy get hit by a car and owner just dragged the body off the road and threw it down. They'll feed them but don't really care about them. Kind of like how we view keeping fish or something like that.

Of course the owner doesn’t think her little doggy barks too much, I bet! I don’t see Thai people train or discipline their dogs.  50 dogs living near or at the landfill, starving, fighting and mating constantly. Not sure about dogs and the Thai culture, sadly it’s depressing

even small dogs in a confined space like a condo can be really annoying for neibours..

Some owners are oblivious to the fact a yapping dog can be very annoying and indignant when a complaint is brought to their  attention.

Been there done that got the username. Seriously can get very bad for the farang. I know .. anyway best bet is to try and involve the Head Man if in a village .. that helped. Eventually  the perpetrator  was discovered . Please be  very careful taking on neighbours .... !

Largely because Thais do not believe in neutering animals so the dog populate grows. Plus they basically only like puppies and the adult dogs too often end up looking into their old home from the outside. This is a different case involving someone actually keeping the adult dogs but allowing them to bark all day. I wonder if the dogs are forced to lead their entire lives outdoors, hence lack the control that owners might exert if the animals were allowed to live indoors. One way or another, Thais in general are not among the world's most knowledgeable pet owners.

So is it constantly barking with people/ cars going past or does it only do it when she goes out and if the latter is she leaving it for hours ?

We have a Pomeranian that wife was given by her friend as the condo block owner where they stayed said it barked all day so either they left or the dog.

They would go out to work all day leaving it alone and it would bark whenever it heard people talking or walking past the room door . Must have really liked their room as they paid 18000bht for the dog only 8 months before .

No it doesn't.

It highlights one nasty neighbour who probably does not like dogs.

Dogs bark regularly near my place.

Always, when a 'stranger' is in the area.

That stranger can be a person, another dog, a snake or whatever.

25 years of living here, doors and windows always open, safe because barking dogs keep it that way.

Same here. But it's a different kettle of fish if you live in close contact with a neighbours barking dog.

House dogs' bark for prolonged time.

Often takes place when the owners don't properly look after them; not walking them enough.

In that respect, the keeper is to blame.

Barking at intruder is one thing.

Barking on minutes/hours meaninglessly is another.

No it's not! Dogs around me bark at anything and everything they see. Happens all the time, at any time and everybody just ignores them because it means nothing!

Thailand is rife with these and yes they're terrible. Look at the map anywhere in Chiang Mai and you'll find these everywhere. 🤮

Somebody near us takes doggie out for exercise- they tie it to the back of a bike then ride around!

I see Thais walking  their dogs many times where I live.  Oh...maybe it's the farang's maids.!

… or they bark incessantly because that’s what they do. Yours is a typical ‘dog person’ response. What a world to live in! When they recreationally bark like that, they are a menace to everyone bar the owner. I’d bet my bottom dollar that most people in the vicinity of that noisy mutt are pissed off. Thailand’s stray dog problem and relationship with dogs in general (I.e keep them caged, let them intentionally bark all day, biting kids, causing road accidents etc) is third world and one of the downsides to living here.

There’s one by us, albeit probably 100m away, that stays chained up in the back garden and can recreationally yap ALL day. It’s disturbing from a high up condo so must be a nightmare for next door neighbors. Not really the dog’s fault, it is squarely on the selfish owners. Big fines should be dished out to get these selfish people to change their ways or you’ll have more of the above… people taking it into their own hands and killing their dogs.

The way it goes in other countries is you get a warning from the authorities followed by a fine, then if it continues you lose the dog. This is how it works in a civilised society to prevent people’s lives from being disturbed by others. Putting up with it because it’s ’good for security’ lol is head in the clouds Thaier than Thai nonsense.

Dog's don't bark for no reason unless they're unhappy. That is down to the owners. Yes, I'm a dog lover and mine only barks at scooters passing. I tell him to shush and he shushes. Training, training, training!

So it's a fact that her dog's barking is disturbing.

She has to react in a proper way. Dog training or move out or keep the dog inside eg.

She has to react in a proper way '

no she doesn't  .......    she's Thai remember  !     :burp:

You have to see a psychologists asap.  You seem to think that if someone doesn't agree with a dog barking all night then they must hate dogs.       :burp:

Pretty stupid of the man to make a note and send it to the dog owner. Would have been better off remaining anonymous and just killing the dog if that is really what he wanted to do. Now he is helpless to take any action against the dog or the owner. And if he does it will surely be used against him..
