Deported Brown University doctor acknowledged she attended Hezbollah leader’s funeral on visit to Lebanon, source says

A Brown University assistant professor and doctor was deported over the weekend from Boston to Lebanon after federal agents found photos of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iran’s supreme leader on her cell phone, a source familiar with the case told CNN.

Following Dr. Rasha Alawieh’s return Thursday from a visit to Lebanon, federal agents at Boston Logan International Airport found the photos, the source familiar said. It was not immediately clear why officers were examining her phone.

The existence of the photos was outlined in a court filing Monday obtained by CNN affiliate WCVB. “In explaining why these multiple photos were deleted by her one to two days before she arrived at Logan Airport, Dr. Alawieh stated that she did not want to give authorities the perception that she supports Hezbollah and the Ayatollah politically or militarily,” the filing reads, per WCVB.

and I guess your poor reading skills missed the part about "Due Process".

Due Process:

"Khalil has been ordered to appear in front of an immigration judge on March 27 at the Lasalle Detention Facility in Louisiana."

They are going to need people like you this spring/summer in the cherry orchards. :cheesy:

The Trump administration moved him to Lousiana so that any appeal of a Federal judge blocking deportation would be reviewed by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. It is the most reactionary appeals court in Amerika.

Seems the judiciary agrees.

That’s not what the Judiciary agrees.

The court ruling is his case shall be heard in the jurisdiction where he was at the time his appeal to the court was submitted.

He was at the time in NJ.

He’s got himself a great fanboys club of Hamas supporters. Sad <deleted> , Of course then theres the obligatory posters who insist on pointing out his rights..........😴

OUTRAGEOUS: At a rally for Mahmoud Khalil, a protester was spotted wearing a PFLP headband—a blatant show of support for terrorism.

Mossad should have a few words with him once off the prying eyes of US soil

That raises an interesting question- Where would Mahmoud Khalil be sent if he were deported from the U.S. ?  He is a citizen of Algeria, but no one has yet explained how and when he got Algerian citizenship.   All the reports I've read have said he was born and raised in Syria, then went to Lebanon for his university education and after that worked in Syria and Lebanon until he went to the U.S.

What's his connection to Algeria?  Syrian law doesn't allow Palestinians to become citizens of Syria except in very rare cases.  Presumably he would be entitled to Palestinian citizenship because his parents were Palestinians, but there's no indication he has ever been to Palestine or made any attempt to formalize citizenship there.

Would Algeria take him?  If Algeria refused, where would he be sent?

Yes, so the judiciary agreed that was a blatant attempt by the administration to circumvent the rule of law. As the poster i replied to and i said.

No that's not what the judiciary agreed. That's you making stuff up again. Expected from you of course, pity you can't even get the judicial points correct.

Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan ruled that New Jersey was the appropriate venue since Khalil was first detained there when his legal team filed the lawsuit.

Looks like loser Trump is getting owned by the courts and the loser is hopefully going to see this particular travesty make him look like a fool.

Columbia is reaping what it sowed.

They got schooled: ‘Columbia cherry-picked students who were really, really, really into social justice activism’

Ever wonder why there was a sleeper cell of pro-Hamas Columbia students ready to bang drums, pitch tents and smash windows after the attacks of October 7? Because the university consciously stacked its classes full of activists.

Elite colleges have long combed their enormous pool of applicants for social justice warriors passionate about community activism.

That admissions strategy backfired spectacularly when kids decided to turn their ire on the university itself in the name of the Palestinians. The result has been reputational damage and crippling federal budget cuts.

Mahmoud Khalil also has a bunch of tough questions to answer that could not just make him look foolish but guilty as well.  If he obtained or has claimed Algerian citizenship fraudulently, that is prima facie grounds for revoking his green card.

Question abound about his participation in the Master' s Program at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs.  His academic background was light years short of the usual requirements for admission to an elite institution like SIPA.   Did Columbia waive the requirements for him?  If so, why so?  In what specific program was he enrolled?  What courses did he take and what grades did he get?

Khalil seems to have obtained his Green Card faster than  his normal.  His application would be based on his marriage to Noor Abdalla, a U.S. citizen.  The Reuters interview  with Abdalla ( https://www.reuters.com/world/us/wife-arrested-columbia-student-says-she-was-naive-believe-he-was-secure-2025-03-12/) says they were married in 2023 and he got his Green Card in 2024.  Where and when were they married?   When did they apply for his Green Card?  When was it granted?

In this Reuters' photo, Abdalla is holding a picture  taken on their wedding day.  Where and when was the wedding photo taken?

Another huge question is to what degree he was a leader of Columbia University Apartheid Divest.  The rhetoric on the CUAD SubStack is totally  pro-Hamas and blatantly antisemitic. The posts use the terminology of Hamas and seem to have been written by someone who's not a native speaker of English.  https://cuapartheiddivest.substack.com/

Moreover, members of CUAD passed  out official Hamas pamphlets at the recent takeover of a building at Barnard College where Khalil was present.  White House Press Secretary Karroline Leavitt said Khalil distributed the pamphlets.

Many questions, but few answers so far.

"The judge said the Trump administration was allowed to move forward with its effort to deport Mr Khalil because the argument that he poses "adverse foreign policy consequences" for the US is "facially reasonable"."

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwy0ngd11yzo

The pro-palestinian mobs who kept yelling about the lack of due process must be getting dizzy with all the due process that happened and is still ongoing.

Good news first, a US judge has ruled the Trump administration can deport Mahmoud Khalil.

But wait, lots more due process awaits this case. He has until 23rd April to lodge an appeal against the deportation order from the judge.

No, let’s not “screw” the Constitutional rights of anyone. But let’s do try to educate the public on what one’s Constitutional rights are, are who enjoys them.

That we have so many people that seem to believe vandalism, harassment and assault are protected as “free speech” is concerning, as are people that seem to believe that noncitizens enjoy the same rights as citizens.

That’s what the left wants, but that is not what the law says.

Lawsuit naming Khalil among many others has been filed. Some of the so called students allegedly knew of the Oct 7th Attack before it happened.

Lawsuit alleges anti-Israel group leaders are 'Hamas' foot soldiers in New York City'

A lawsuit filed in the Southern District of New York last month claims the leaders of several radical anti-Israel groups involved in 18 months of disruptive, violent and antisemitic protests on campuses and in the streets of New York City are "accountable for aiding and abetting Hamas’ continuing acts of international terrorism."

n purported violation of the Antiterrorism Act and the Alien Tort Statue, the defendants are said to have "acted as Hamas’ foot soldiers in New York City," and may have had foreknowledge of the designated foreign terror organization’s devastating Oct. 7 attacks.

Director of Middle East Forum @greggroman reveals Columbia University Palestine activists reactivated their social media account just hours before the Oct 7th attack on Israel. “Columbia activists…reactivated the Students for Justice for Palestine social media accounts, which had been dormant for months prior to October 7th, 3 hours before the October 7th attacks took place.” Roman made the revelation while speaking with a panel of military experts at the @JNS_org International Policy Summit in Jerusalem today.
