A 52-year-old Iranian man has been arrested after allegedly stealing tea and coffee from a supermarket in Patong, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred at a supermarket on Phra Baramee Road, where a security guard noticed the suspect attempting to leave the premises without paying for the items. Upon being apprehended, the man was found to be in possession of a bag of tea and a jar of instant coffee, which had been concealed in a reusable plastic bag.

Patong Police were alerted to the theft and swiftly arrived at the scene, where they took the suspect into custody. He was subsequently transported to Patong Police Station, where he now faces charges of theft.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the man’s name or visa status and the suspect did not yet provided any statement regarding the incident.

Local police have reiterated their commitment to tackling theft and ensuring the security of businesses in Patong. Shoppers and business owners are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.

The case remains under investigation.

Not to worry! It´s just another high class tourist, that wants to visit the incredibly family friendly Thailand. They say, no money, no honey. This guy took it literally, as nobody mentioned no money, no coffee or tea, his level of understanding, told him it was ok.

wish the politicians charged the same! 😬

I noticed it's Cha Mang Prue tea with the orange dye.

Guy should've lifted some quality oolong grown near Chiang Rai  (gorgeous tea by the way) 👍

Throw this sleazeball outta the country immediately.

Has no tea sense.

When non-Thais are involved swift action, when Thais are involved…

Oh, the standard comment. They are so bad to foreigners but they let Thai´s get away with it. Aren´t you going to mention double pricing, unfair tax system and the terrible 90-days reporting?

They take action against Thais two, but they do not post all in the news, as it has no readers value in the eyes of the press.

The shopping bag of that thief.

It says: Reduce, reuse, recycle.

He looks like exercising the first phrase; reduce (own expenditure).

Thailand is certainly the Family Friendly destination, to him.

As they don't chop off the hand of any thieves, unlike his home country.

Another Quality Tourist, TAT always wanted.

They are so grateful to be here.

Making headlines, their thanksgiving token to this kingdom...
