Removing objects blocking the street .

Featured Replies

Risky maneuver by you, especially if you had taken the sign home. Better off taking some pictures and contacting those street police inspectors.

Your other option if you have rented accommodation 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

On the local high street there are numerous shops , the pavement outside is six paving slabs wide , plenty of space to walk .

One shop has a food stall permanently parked outside and is never is use , that takes up four pavement slabs .

They they also have a large advertising banner from roof to floor attached to the food stall, which takes up another  pavement slab.

So you have to squeeze by to get past .

The banner is attached to hinges and so I closed it every time I walked past and it was usually open again when I went past next time .

The food stall and banner are there just for a land grab and the outside pavement has become part of the shop .

I got so fed up with squeezing around the banner and moving it open to get past , that one night walking past I just removed the banner and took it home.

Walked past the shop today and sat in a restaurant next door .

The Woman and her Husband furiously came barging into the restaurant and showing me a Police report and telling me that I would go to jail .

I told them that the banner was illegally on public space and that the pavement doesn't belong to har and go ahead and call the police whilst I have a feed .

The restaurant owner did actually say that if the Police did come, then he would side with me and explain that they were blocking the path

The Police didn't show up in the end

Well done , too many farang are scared to say anything to a Thai because most are under the thumb of their Thai wife’s / escorts .

You are calling me a liar ?

Here is said banner from a photo I took .

Care to apologise for calling me a liar and also do reatect your claim, thanks ?

that could be any banner. Show us a picture of it hanging in the street obstructing the footpath and then fully unfolded at your home first so we can see they are identical. If you can't do that then you can't prove that the banner in your pic is the one you refer to in your post. Even if the banner is really the one you claim to have taken, then that makes you a thief as it was not yours to steal.

I think that it was me

You can hold your head high and in many eyes you done the right thing removing the banner from the footpath.  But be careful you may get your head nocked down.

There are millions of shops  using the foot path  and part of the street for tables /chair/plants banners/parking cars/motorbikes .

It's a Pain but if no one dies directly from those illegal acts nothing will be done to stop this..

Right, so you are simultaneously  saying that I didn't take the banner and ALSO that I didn't take the banner .

So, I am a thief for talking the banner and I am also a liar for lying about taking the banner 🙂

And you are also asking me to take a photo of a banner that isn't there anymore 🙂

Guess they gonna start using your motorbike, parked outside.

You seriously think that I will run around taking photos and post them online of various things just in an attempt to convince you ?

That's a rather audacious command,  like, who do you think that you are ?

And who you think that that I am ?

Your run around boy ?

I don't have to prove anything to you .

You understand that ?

first thing NOBODY that commented on your post called you a liar, that was a term that YOU used because of your over sensitivity to not being believed. Just because we don't believe you doesn't make you a liar, it just means we don't believe you because your story is too farfetched to believe.

As I stated previously that picture of A banner could be any banner, not THE banner you claim it is. That picture is insufficient proof that it is the same banner that was hanging and obstructing the footpath.  Also, and this is just another part that you have failed to comprehend, IF it is the banner that was hanging and obstructing the footpath as you claim, then for it to be in your possession that means you are in the possession of stolen property and that would make you a thief by your own admission as you admitted in your post to taking it.

Do YOU understand that?

Totatly get what you are saying, it is so annoying when they block the pavements or reserve parking on the street. Yet if you have been here in Thailand for a long time you would know that the reaction could be something you are not expecting. You will be the one who will loose in the end, better to advoid the shop, enjoy a longer life with no stress. By the way if you take something that is not yours then that is theft.

You did state that I was lying but you just didn't use that particular word .

If you say something that isn't true , then its a lie .

You didn't believe what I said = You clammed that I was lying .

Removing a banner that was blocking the pavement is a far fetched story ?

You must lead a quiet life if you think moving a sign blocking the pavement is far fetched .

No different to picking up a discarded plastic bag in the street and putting it in the rubbish bin

The people in the shop have now bought a new banner and replaced the old one and now they've affixed the new banner to keep in in the closed position
