All I can say is that he is definitely trying hard… to make Ukraine lose this war. This kind of ‘peace’ will only encourage Putin to invade more sovereign countries in the future. And not only Putin.

Only one winner here. It took Trump and Putin 90 minutes of conspiring to come up with a plan to hurt Ukraine whilst giving the upper hand. Energy facilities are the best value targets in the way of oil refineries for Ukraine to put any pressure on Putin. This is a plot to ensure Ukraine has reduced bargaining power so Russia and the US can share in the spoils. 
Ukraine is an inconvenient impediment and this is a calculated attempt in removing it from the face of the planet.
