As our friend Sigmund Freud said, anatomy is destiny. And so is geography. Ukraine happens to be a neighbour of Russia. So it can't keep poking Russia in the eye with a pointy stick. You can say Ukraine can do whatever it wants. Okay, how did that work out? Not so hot, right? Whether I find it acceptable is neither here nor there, it is real politics. Russia is a very strong nuclear power. You poke it in the eye at your peril. Ukrainians are not immune from this. -

E-visa not used yet, renewing passport before using it
There is, if you follow that suggestion and obtain a new passport while in Thailand. In that scenario, (at least) the entry stamp is always transferred from the old passport to the new passport.
