Has any potus for usa ever threatened to use military force to take over another country?  Sure there was vietnam etc but far as i know we never ever talked about actually taking over and owning the country and make it part of usa much less openly stated that using the military is possible?

Which is not something to be proud of and it indicates that their tactics were likely not very good. Losing troops is not an indication that they are doing it right, and a country that calls it's troops "general issue" is not a military to emulate. In Vietnam because the Aussies and NZ troops did not use US tactics their death rate was very small in comparison.

Not that I care to learn much about a few thousand people living on the edge of the second largest ice cap on the planet, but are they capable of surviving without importing everything? If not, then it's not really up to them. Do they even have an independent economy? Do they grow any food themselves?
