Chinese Men Caught Removing Documents from Collapsed Building in Bangkok

In an eye-opening turn of events, four Chinese nationals were apprehended attempting to smuggle vital files from the wreckage of the collapsed State Audit Office building in Bangkok's Chatuchak district.

I'd wager that the savings were not made by reducing director's salaries or the amounts in the brown envelopes.

It will be savings by reducing quantity/quality of the raw materials.

pretty strong language considering no one knows the motive for why the records were being moved. For all anyone knows at this point, they could have been protecting them from the elements, or making sure they were preserved in order to prove no wrongdoing on their part. The usual dodgy as a 15 baht note CCP stooges trying the normal cover-up MO. Who would trust a Chinese company to do anything right without cutting corners, using sub-par materials, then pocketing the different in corruption? It is so ingrained into their culture that it can be assumed to be the case, doesn't even need investigating. The sheer nerve they have knows no bounds and they just don't care if anyone loses everything or gets killed, means nothing.

Yeah, that would be the right assumption. Planks are usually made of wood. 😂

However, this was probably bad quality concrete with the lack of reinforcing armored steel.

I'm always amazed to see how 'flimsy' these buidings under construction look. But surely it's the Architects for the project who specify and monitor construction and their necks may be on the line.

 

The THB 258 million reduction in the project quote could of course be connected to some criminal corruption.

 

Perhaps the structure after investigation, will be found to be in line with normal standards.

 

Or maybe unbeknown, the structure of the ground deep below made that spot, is particularly vulnerable to earthquake disturbance - not everywhere shakes to the same extent during an earthquake . . . .

 

Pity and R.I.P. the poor souls caught up in this.

Slowly leaking out , Industry Minister Ekanat Promphan, after inspecting steel samples collected from the construction site, refrained from making accusations but commented, “Just seeing it left me stunned.”

Gott - it would be amazing if the concrete supports did not have reinforcement steel as usual ! Quite unbelievable !

 

Armoured steel ? Never heard of it, except in military applications.

 

IMO, unlikely that the concrete was below spec.

Something was below spec this is obvious. The building was structurally finished.
