Where did you see him starting the fight? What I saw was a pack of rabid Thai men, attacking a foreigner. Not one on one. Even the pack who cowardly attacking from behind and running away. So unable to beat him they hit him over the head with a bottle! Now that's attempted murder!!!!

The second video I posted shows the start of this incident with the farang hitting the Thai when he was sitting down.

Take a look and then get back to me.

There is more people,  and it's more loud now days.

But Pattaya and Jomtien are more like Chalk and Cheese.

It was at it's best,  when it had the gay reputation.

it was nice and quite back then,

But it's still a great place.

Looking back I would've probably chosen to live in Jomtien rather that Pattaya.

In my 20 years in Bangkok I lived within a 20 minute walk of Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza, but in the last 5 years I hardly ever visited, no longer interested in that stuff.

It is quite obvious that you don't read. I did not write that jomtien Beach is a sketchy  crime magnet zone.   I acknowledged the comment  of this person;

Are you saying that the above information is inaccurate and that the  area where the  event occurred is a safe area at night and can be relied upon to attract the  fine upstanding  citizens of the area?  Drinking on the street, leaving bottles lying about, dressed like they live on handouts, and brawling is hardly the sign of a safe and quality area.

The fact is that no one really cares. They could get run over in the next hour and they would be forgotten about by the next day. No one is going to lose sleep over them as they will sort themselves out either through violent deaths or  lifestyle diseases.

Sorry thought the story was set on jomtien beach.

But I could be very bad at reading.

BTW your words below.

Quote

Anyway, does anyone really care?   They look like lowlifes and they are in a sketchy crime magnet zone. This is how they live. If they survive and  are sober the next day, they forget about it and move on to the next scummy event. There are more important things to be concerned about.

Yes, Myself  I did 20 years in Jomtien.

Still do about 7 months a year,

it's an ok place.

Drunken Foreign man trouble making thug who got in a fight with a Thai man gets bottle smashed over his head...

...from behind by a pathetic coward who was not even in the fight between the two men.  (The Thai who smashed him with a bottle from behind isn't a "man," he's a coward).

There - fixed it!

Before you make stupid comments please watch the link.

The farang hit the bottle guy when he was sitting down on the beach.

So it is ok to hit someone sitting down?

He actually hit two Thais before flouro t-shirt had had enough.

The farang started that fight three times. It was over and he kept going until the police showed up and arrested him,

the thai guy must have done sth, but i agree that this foreign guy is an animal and probably not the first or last violent incident he has/will be involved in.

Why all this Trolling and Baiting?

You know there is more to it than the video shows.

The jailbirds were obviously up to no good. At the beginning of the video, you can see another local pleading with the jailbirds to leave and he gets pushed. An entirely different local from the one who was standing by the foreigner and who got punched later.

So it seems that the locals were on the side of the foreigner, with the criminals being up to no good.

Recently, I had a similar experience, with a recently released jailbird scoping out the scene whilst I was sitting with a girlfriend. He walked past a couple of times and then sat nearby, gradually moving closer and closer, perhaps thinking that I wouldn't notice.

As aforementioned, that area is rife of that sort. Don't blame the foreigner. He's there with his wife. If he got involved, there was likely good reason.

yes, but reacting like that makes him a thug too.

a decent human being calls the police if someone is causing problems. you dont take matters in your own hands and start assaulting people. the only exception is self-defense.

All I can tell from your comments is you can not understand Thai.

Did you listen to the interview of the witness?

Did you read the comments from the Thais in the Facebook post?
You appear to be one of these foreigners who thinks they know everything despite not being able to understand the lingo.

And you just imagine what you want to believe with your bias.
How do you know he was there with his wife? Did anyone say that or did you imagine that also?

If a guy twice my size was attacking my friend I think that is acceptable.

What would you do, leave your friend to be killed?
He was hardly sneaking up on the farang, the farang started the fight and re-started it twice.

Been living here for over 20 years, worked many years with the Thai's.

I've travelled to over 40 countries, Thai's are the friendliest, warmest people I've ever met.

Early days the Thai's loved us, couldn't do enough for us foreigners.

If they hate us, it's justified, some of bloody foreigners here make me sick, pathetic, lowlife humans.

The western nations are sending us, in Thailand, their criminals, you mean?

Trump says that Mexico and other countries south of the border are sending their criminals up north.

Nobody seems to want criminals, these days.

The guy in the vid looks like another High IQ type.

Coming from behind with a bottle is nothing but a pussy move. If he wanted to help his friend then stand and fight like a man. Typical thai move its either a gang up or something like this. You have no idea what started the whole thing just what was videod which probably doesn't show the whole incident.

Reported as being drunk and maybe on drugs.

Similar to the Brit who was throwing bottles of petrol and pushing Thai kids off motorbikes yesterday in Phuket.

A lot of idiots around these days.

It was in the report if you bothered to watch it.

They reported he was on drugs ?...

There was a Brit throwing bottles (plural) and throwing kids (children) off motorbikes (plural) ?...    Agree though - a complete ayhole, a particularly extreme event even without your exaggeration.

Agreed - idiots have always been around...  of all nationalities, local and foreign  - I see them acting superior, or just rude, or drink driving etc...

The drunk blond foreign woman dancing in the street as if this was a party after rolling the car (a couple of days ago) springs to mind.

Watched both videos...  no indication of what triggered the drunk drugged up violent foreign thug walk up to two innocent skinny Thai guys and just slap them for no reason...

... must have been the meth he was on...  it happens...   just happened in Phuket with a Thai guy attacking a western woman - it was the drugs (no deflection - to quote you: << A lot of idiots around these days. >>)

I think there are more these days, weak spoilt upbringings and social media frying brains might be part of the reason.
The farang was overweight so that indicates a spoilt upbringing or someone who can not control himself.

I hope he has learned his lesson.

Also it is Thailand, he might have imagined he had corrupt police friends so thinks he is above the law.

Boomer comment - not really worth discussing.

Social media makes the information more available to us with videos etc - takes some mental discipline not to immediately believe everything we see and read.

Overweight part - yep, I get your point... thats not a new thing, its just easier to eat poorly these days - too much cheap junk food about.

(nice try) I'm not sure about that - he wasn't drink driving.

It sounds like despite the video evidence of the farang starting it you are trying to blame the Thais?

You are consistent.

Underlying issues.

They must not have got the Memo that Pattaya is a family friendly resort.

Jomtien isn't Pattaya. No bar scene to talk of, loads of condos and since the sea got polluted there too, not much reason to bother visiting except immigration.

Have you even been there?

You dont know if they were harmless or not as you weren't there and all you have to reference is a video and that doesn't show what really lead up to it. Im not condoning the fat guys actions but either way to come from behind and hit someone with a bottle in the head like he did was a pussy move.

We were not there, probably those Thai children had done something to make the Brit react right?
