A 62-year-old retired man has surrendered to police after fatally shooting his neighbour during a heated dispute over a dog that had allegedly caused a previous accident.

 

The shooting occurred on the evening of April 3 in a rice field near Ban Chaeson, Moo 1, Huai Yap sub-district, Ban Thi district, Lamphun province. Police from Ban Thi Station, along with rescue workers and a forensic doctor from Ban Thi Hospital, arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr Suthat, 63, lying in a pool of blood beside his vehicle in a field. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

 

According to investigators, Mr Suthat had been performing his tasks, tending to his rice field and cattle shed, when the incident took place around 19:30. His wife reportedly rushed to the scene after hearing gunshots and discovered his lifeless body.

 

Shortly after the incident, the suspect, Mr Sinsawat, 62, turned himself in to police. He brought with him the firearm used in the shooting and three spent bullet casings. During questioning, Mr Sinsawat admitted to shooting Mr Suthat, claiming he had been repeatedly harassed by the victim’s dog, which had chased him on several occasions, one of which allegedly caused an accident.

 

The two men were known to have ongoing disputes about the dog, and according to police, a heated argument escalated into violence that evening.

 

Mr Sinsawat has been charged with homicide and is currently being held in custody pending further investigation. Police have pledged to conduct a thorough and fair inquiry to ensure justice is served for both parties.

Why didn't he just shoot the dog?  Or resort to the Thai poisoned meat lob.

Found his last straw in a rice field.

Which could have ended in the dog owner shooting him.
