Condo wants tax details for EV charger ?!

Bought an EV here in Thailand. Honestly it's doing my head in.

First week we drove out to Pattaya, and we charged in the hotel - downloaded an app, topped up by QR code, no issue and charged it. Albeit it's still a rip off as you can get the remaining balance back.

Now back in Bangkok. Our condo has a horrific app you need to download. This app requires a degree in nuclear physics to operate it. It has levels to it which are not explained.

Then the creme da la creme of beaurachy - it requires you to sumbit your tax details. Now i have never heard this before in all my years of fuelling up, even in the UK parents EV cars never had to file any tax information.

They claim this is to send you reciepts ?!?!!!?

So we were like F this, we going to need more time to research and information before we just sumbit our information. Go to a superfast charger in a mall. This time another app. My god this app required a degree in astrology to get around it. We gave up and somehow on 2% got back to our condo.

Utterly bat sheeet insane it is. Not one universal app. Each app designed in such a junky way that will know is very special to Thailand.

But my point on asking for your tax reference number is slightly murky. Anyone got information on this ?

Just go to your condo management and ask them to get the app working for you. Tell them you’re not a taxpayer. I have charged with 4 different CPO’s, PTT, PEA, Elexa and Reversharger. Not one of them required any tax information from me, since I don’t have any.

congrats to your electric car ...

the issue with charging apps isn’t just a thailand problem ... it’s actually much worse in many other countries. a visitor from europe who’s been driving electric for five years (mostly in central europe) has collected 31 different charging cards … it would really be great if there were a unified solution (wishful thinking, though) …

based on your post, i’m not sure if you’re aware that there can be significant price differences at charging stations  …

how much does your condo charge you?

May be it is just you who has a problem with PEA,EV Station pluz etc. Apps, as it is not rocket science to work with.

I think it might be PEA Volta app that requires tax identification.

I had the same and put the 13 digit number i had been given for my COVID vaccinations.

Surprisingly this worked, i guess the 13 digit number on a yellow book or pink id card would work also ( i don’t have either ).

While the information required and payment methods vary between the Thai EV apps and can be frustrating once you have registered successfully then it is plain sailing.

While i have registered and tested 6 apps it is unlikely i will use any others than:

1) EV Station Pluz at PTT

2) PEA Volta

3) EleXA

EV Station Pluz is linked to my Bangkok Bank debit card and debits from my bank immediately with SMS message following.

PEA Volta uses a wallet payment method which i top up via a QR code.

Elexa gives me payment options after charging, i pay via QR code.

Depending on location but for me PTT stations are everywhere and the easiest option.
