AMLO requirements

Featured Replies

I keep getting SMS messages from DTAC about registering my SIM number with my bank account, before 30 April 2025, in order to comply with AMLO regulations.

I have had the same Thai bank account and the same SIM for 15+ years.  Do I really need to do this?

The banks are matching your name and passport number against the mobile phone number you use.  If they are the same no need to do anything.  If not you need to update.  My passport number was 1 digit incorrect, went into True and they corrected it.

Yes you do need to do it or they may freeze or close your account. Not a big deal to do it

I would if I was you, for the reasons outlined by @scubascuba3

Thanks for the replies.  I went to a DTAC shop and they checked that my name matched my phone number, but didn't ask to see my passport.

Still strange.

At your visit at DTAC they just looked up data and said all OK? No picture of passport taken, no picture of you.

So they say no issue but the SMS refers to BANK account?

You have shown the SMS to them?

Do you have online banking?

Maybe someone else used your number at the bank with a different name?

As per True instructions, AMLO doesn't check the passport number, only the name of the SIM

Maybe so, but my bank alerted to to the discrepancy and True fixed it.

Your bank doesn't know which passport you registered with True, because I asked my bank 2 days ago.

Maybe you confuse the messages the bank sends to everyone, including those that do not need to make any changes

Yes, I showed them the SMS from DTAC.   I use online banking all the time.  They know my mobile number and passport details.  Every transaction I make through online banking results in a SMS confirmation.  I think I'm covered.

With the DTAC app you can see the name associated with your SIM/number/account.

My Profile, main app window to the right of your number

Your registered name is displayed

Insure that matches your bank account name

Same with True now.  Never used to be the case.  But now your registered name can be found on the app, even with a prepaid SIM.

My name is not shown but the sim is registered to my pink id card. See below

To check your AIS SIM registration, dial *161#. If the displayed passport number is incorrect (possibly due to a new passport), update it at an AIS or Telewiz shop.
