- I think requiring it to be filled in a minimum of 3 days before arrival could raise all sorts of practical problem - not least people who didn't know and turn up a Suvarnabhumi without.

the old system of cards would allow you to fill your card in at a bench in the airport itself.

 

I'm sure there will be many people whose travel arrangements change at last minute - altered flights, different hotels - a lot can happen in 3 days.

 

It sounds like a recipe for disaster.

 

 

Only for a traveler of a certain predisposition about anything Thai.

 

Or the non-traveler beating their gums.

I wonder what will happen to the MILLIONS that arrive and "forgot" to fill it out, or didn't know where to find the app (not everyone has a smart phone with internet access and is tech savvy).

Do they all get put into an IDC pen until they figure it out ? Denied entry ? Held by Immigration and put on the next flight out ?

And how many weeks (or days) before a) the system crashes and b) the system is hacked and everyone's information is released onto the internet ?

We know the problems they have/had with the simple 90 Day online report system and that only has to handle maybe what, a few dozen people a day ? (Consider that not everyone uses it and there are 365 days in a year.)

I'm guessing that there will be MASS chaos starting from Day 1 and by Day 7 the program will be "temporarily" suspended because they couldn't handle the volume of people doing the online TM6s as well as the massive numbers of arrivals that didn't do it at all.

Probably not a good time to be flying in to Thailand.

Yes indeed like here in Cambodia if you arrive by AIR at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap or Sihanoukville International Airports. The only difference is you complete the electronic form on ARRIVAL in the Immigration hall where tablets are provided, not beforehand. If you arrive at a land or sea border crossing, you still have to complete an old paper arrival/departure card.  Whatever you have to do, remember in addition you still need to complete another form for your visa unless you already have a tourist e-visa.

Nothing formally posted thats says you cannot do the TDAC in the arrivals hall in Thailand... until you pass immigration the arrivals hall is technically within the 3 days window !

If you're worried about a visa number use your re entry number. But they say Thailand will be added, if not it's not going to be any issue.

They also have digital arrival, but you can fill it in after you land.

Brits get 45 days visa waiver on arrival.

And it's a better destination for most tourists.

Entered Vietnam yesterday for a 2 week holiday. 45day visa waiver yes. Did not fill in any forms either paper or digital. Just gave the grumpy bugger my passport and he stamped it and threw it back to me (and everyone else same too so at least I wasn't singled out).

Sort of . For some certainly not for me though. I know why it doesn't work for me and it won't work ever unless I change something.  But immigration say don't,  so I just do my 90 day in person and do some shopping on my day trip to Pattaya. 

If the new app performs like the 90 day report it'll be chaos.

Use your Re-entry Permit number, like you did with the TM6 card.
