Popular Post Don Giovanni Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM To be honest with you I always hated Songkran. The whole idea of wasting water at a time when it's needed most is absolutely abhorrent to me, it is ignorant beyond belief but that's the Thais for you... Anyway, personally I never took part, but I did get unintentionally soaked a few times when I had to go out to buy some essentials. My reaction was always the same : The middle finger and a nice firm 'F off!...' I am NOT Thai, and couldn't give a hoot about your childish new year celebrations. The Don. 1 1 1 1 1

It's the same story in that ridiculous place every year - they waste millions of tons of water, then a week later a post comes about how there are droughts across the country... errrr, ya think??? If you got wet then it was most likely that you were not paying attention or just looking for another reason to bitch about Thailand. Its hard to miss people throwing water from a distance ahead and avoid that area. 1 1

The ladyboys there are petite and very attractive, whilst I prefer to look and not touch I completely understand who you go there. 2

Each person has the liberty to assume/think what they want, but that doesn't mean they are always correct. What others think about you, might shock you, if they voice it. If one is unable to tolerate other cultures, he or she should stick to their own. It is very stupid to expect other nationalities to act the same as you. The whole idea of wasting water at a time when it's needed most is absolutely abhorrent to me What about starting wars & destroying innocent lives & countries?
Popular Post Felton Jarvis Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM I do my best to stay inside during the entire Songkran period. I only like to get wet when I am taking a shower. I learned long ago that Songkran would only run my blood pressure up to the stratosphere and cause me to react in ways that might get me beaten up or killed. Given those facts, my decision to stay in my condo for the duration of Songkran makes a lot of sense. 1 2 1

What about the way they drive? 1 1
sqwakvfr Posted yesterday at 04:09 AM Posted yesterday at 04:09 AM Throwing water at me is not the problem. But when someone uses a hose or a powerful water gun and aims at my face then they will have a problem because I do not have hose or a water gun. Also, I have seen some who throw powder like substances and I hope it is just flower. 1

What about the way they drive? I moved here for a lower cost of living. Their so-called "culture" was not one of the attractions. At my age (75), even the women are not among the attractions. You can't shoot pool with a rope. 🙂 1 3 1

Felt 35 Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Personally, I don't think highly of Songkran, but if people don't need more exciting entertainment and challenge than the "art" of throwing water at others, then let them continue in a safe way without disturbing people who drive, cycle or walk and who clearly indicate that they are not in on the art and challenge of throwing water, continue in peace.
