I understand what they may "want."  But really, they haven't done much to stop anyone, have they?  They may fool around with the visa scheme once in a while, but it's still, it's the same rules for everyone. 

 

So what if guesthouses on Patong Beach are no longer 300 baht?  Try another place. That's what it's all abut, right?  The original backpacker/budget traveler mentality. "Exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations...."  From Star Trek. Sorry if I mangled the quote.
