I'm happy that you understand that taunting, which is what you specifically referred to, is not a crime.

It is.

It's a public disturbance and you are threatening the public.

Really?  Which section of the Thai Penal Code covers the specific act of "taunting" or are you perhaps quoting the law in your own country?

From the OP...

"Police were called, and the incident is now under investigation..."

I think it implies that police were called after the fight.

I know no one called the police because they would have arrived before the start fighted.

No, it doesn't, that is not an implication, that was your inference.  The article specifically stated that "Police were called", yet you claimed that no one called the police.

1.  Talk.  That didn’t work.

I don't see much talking going on.

2.  Call the police.  They were called.

So wait for them to turn up!  🙄

3.  Restrain in Superior numbers.  I believe there were only two security assigned to the bar.  So, according to you other innocent bystanders need to get involved.  They did as the video shows.  Street justice was served.

Simple, just get assistance from another venue, or not bash the guy before the police get there.

”It’s very simple “.   Really.  I suggest you visit the 6 and have someone video you “diffusing” Post it here and show us how it’s done and how simple it was.

After all , you are the subject matter expert according to your posts.

It really is very simple.  You're trying to make it difficult so that you can justify the guy being attacked.  It makes you happy, because of something inside you.  Just look how much effort you're going to.

It’s all online.  Google is your friend.

Yes.  It is online, isn't it?  And Google is our friend, isn't it?

Here it is:

"But the woman at the centre of the altercation has reportedly told police the whole situation was just a 'misunderstanding'.

A source close to the investigation told ThaiVisa the woman involved, waitress Rung-Arun Sangsuwan, had told police she and Mr Robb were 'just joking' and she did not feel under threat."

See how you're wrong and I'm right?  Isn't that cool?  Especially after you not only made an incorrect claim, but then went on to accuse me of being the misinformed one.

In a video shown on TV you could she that the girl was lifted up and when she was set down she laughed, so apparently she did not care.. So you are correct and a drunk man as we saw felt down at the first kick, so why assault him so heavily with so many people involved.. Anyway, people say it is his own fault, but drunk people behave different than non drunk people, but this is again an example of the hotheaded Thais

The fact that he was knocked down so easily shows that he was heavily intoxicated.

And the security guards usually dish out harsher beatings. Looks like they're easing up.

And it's the first time I see another foreigner actually taking part in a group beating of a foreigner.

Drinking is bad news. Makes you act stupid and aggressive and you can't even defend yourself.

Stupid, repetitive & boring, yes, but Doesn't make everyone act aggressively.

Appears you’re incapable of producing the video showing how easy it is to diffuse.

You can type all day on the keyboard telling us your textbook procedures but you’re clueless in reality.

Make a video of your time tested proven methods.

And now your diagnostic procedure have detected something inside of me causing my difference of opinion other than yours, the subject matter expert.

Is that your defense mechanism kicking in?

Looks like he was giving it the old "Come on! Who wants some?"

I don't think he quite expected so many to take up his offer.

At least he will have a nice holiday video to show his friends when he gets home.

I was thinking same thing people often just get a few selfies  in old time you got a collection of 100 baht instant pictures to add to your collection 555 .now he has viral video to capture him at his finest I should imagine he is same <deleted> at home so probably no surprise to people who know him

so why assault him so heavily with so many people involved

I think the problem is that he was goading the whole crowd, so basically multiple Thai males felt like he had kind of put them down.  This meant that they all felt that they needed to each attack him in order to make themselves feel better.  It was all about fragile egos, since he was basically no threat to anyone at that point.

It's sad that people cannot rise above these childish football hooligan like behaviours.  And pretty sad that people are now celebrating it also.

You actually need me to show you a video of someone defusing a drunk person?  You've never seen it before?

Bystanders, both Thai nationals and other foreigners, then joined in, delivering additional blows as the man lay stunned on the ground.

Hang on, hang on.........I only saw a pack of Thais (as usual) doing that.

bull<deleted>.... he was drunk and disruptive but not violent. Egging people on does not make those people less responsible for assaulting that man. Security was supposed to diffuse the situation.. Not escalate it into a street brawl.

Exactly.....but he bruised their little egos and they lost face.

They couldn't not savagely gang up on him.

Yes indeed. Watched the video on Face Book last night. Not only knocked off his feet but got a good kicking to his head, then body!

Drunken foreign scum that Pattaya has to put up with - throw him out of Thailand and do not waste money trying to prosecute him!

I'm not saying this didn't happen as they played it out but does anybody else find it's very strange that the assault on the girls in the bar that they said took place was not filmed by one single person yet this particular video I've seen four or five times from different posters. Again I'm not saying he didn't get what he deserved I just found it strange that none of the assaulted people for the people in the bar took the time to film that assault

What's more insightful is the tens of thousands of Thais on social media applauding this and making jokes about "farang salad" and suchlike.

They are even saying that Thais are raised to back each other up in situations like this, even though they don't know each other personally.

Such an eye opener into the primitive mindets of the people we are living with.

Yes, there are some really nasty Thais online.  You should see the anti-Cambodia stuff, it's very unpleasant.

It's no great secret that a lot of Thais don't actually like foreigners very much.  There are no shortage of incidents where Thais attack foreigners who are quarrelling with other Thais, even where the Thais were in the wrong.

Sadly, a lot of foreigners seem to be completely unaware of this.  (Or perhaps they purposefully block it out.)
