A late-night blaze engulfed a Toyota saloon car on the Borommaratchachonnani elevated expressway, leaving three people injured and bringing traffic to a standstill as firefighters battled the flames.

The incident occurred at approximately 22.55 on 16 April, when Rama 199 Emergency Radio Centre received a report of a car on fire in the Salathammasop area of Thawi Watthana district. Emergency services, including officers from the Thawi Watthana Fire and Rescue Station and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found the Toyota sedan, petrol engine, registration from Pathum Thani, completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters swiftly cordoned off the area and launched efforts to douse the fire, eventually bringing the blaze under control. However, the vehicle was entirely destroyed.

Three people, one man and two women,  managed to escape the burning car, sustaining only minor injuries. All three were taken to Vichaivej Hospital for treatment by Ruamkatanyu rescue volunteers. The three casualties will be questioned by authorities later as to the sequence of events.

Police have since arranged for the burnt vehicle to be towed for forensic inspection to determine the cause of the fire.
