Is the Australian election irrelevant?

Aseannow seems to have a huge amount of posts about politics in the US but I have not read any on the upcoming Australian election. There are a number of Australians that post frequently about US politics but do they find their own country's election irrelevant or just to boring to post about? Why post everyday about a country where you do not get to vote and ignore the place that you can vote?

Australia is meaningless to most Americans and probably many Australians.  Everyone around the world seems obsessed with the U.S.

The US economy is the biggest by far. Aus is tiny. Albo is a clown but Dutton is so dull its hard to like him.

Australian politics is not interesting, and the governance of Australia has minimal impact on the world stage.

When I lived in Australia, I lived in a rural area - and as the bulk of the population live in the major cities - my vote would have no meaning on the outcome.

I had no impact when i lived there, and have no impact now, living in Thailand. However, the Government has no impact on me now - so, Care Factor 0

The one that I see often uses it as a chance to take shots at Americans as if we are all the same and have the same point of view [and then he always claims to be sooo smart] . His hatred flows like Lasix takes the water out of your system...

Trump's actions have probably helped Albanese into a second term of government.

 

Dutton has not helped himself by parading his son on the campaign trail as an example of failed home ownership, while turning over 36 properties for $30 million profit.

 

Dumb as a can of soup. Not financially, politically.

Aus is chock full of imports... the Sudanese and Lebanese run amok.

I don't post often in the threads on US politics but read them from time to time and it is not only the US that is obsessed. One Australian had a thread about where to buy a MAGA hat in Bangkok.

One of Dutton's big mistakes was to try and go all Trumpy on some things when Trump was becoming on the nose and never that popular here. He went in with stopping work from home for public servants and cutting the public service. Sky news viewers may have loved it but most thought it was silly and know someone working from home and the benefits - including myself. It sent a message that he is trying to be a tough guy and it didn't resonate I think. 

There are some real differences - nuclear power for example. There are minor differences on tax policies. But must admit have been in Thailand for the start of the election and now usually fast forward those bits when watching the news.

Total nonsense. "Green" energy with giant batteries is by multiples the most expensive and unreliable. Nuclear is the cheapest and most reliable electric production,  just ask any based Germans.

The social media in Australia has been running hot, it's quite a nasty divisive election actually, possibly the most divisive I've seen since the Whitlam era. In this election we have two very uninteresting and uninspiring leaders. Albo is a boring fart who has spent too much time flying around the world with his girlfriend; and Dutton is a meathead ex QLD copper with zero charisma. It's interesting with Dutton because up until very recently the image projected by him was tough and stern, no nonesense, there were tough things ahead and he was the tough man to deal with them. But they may have overdone it and put people off because the past couple of weeks they're now presenting a softer, warm smiling Dutton, holding hands with his handsome son, and walking around smiling with the Indian community pretending he's not a racist. There's nothing but bad news ahead for Australia regardless of who wins. If ALP then more of the same from them, some of which has been pretty good, and a lot not so good. Dutton will be a disaster in my opinion, he doesn't give a rat's ass about afforable health care, education or arts, if he gets in he'll put as much funding as he can into police, border force, defence, they are the areas he cares about. Control the people, lock up the borders, bring in bigger fines, heavier penalties, more mandatory sentencing, the full force of the law. Once a fascist QLD pig, always a fascist QLD pig. However as we stand today it seems most likely that not only will the unpopular Dutton lose this election, he'll probably lose his seat as well, as there is a swing against him in his electorate, and he only hold his seat by 3000.

Australian political leaders do care about Trump's influence on world trade due to Australia's trade relationships with both US & PRC. Currently trump's tariff war with PRC is having a negative impact on the Australian dollar, trade and share market.
