Thanks, been thinking about this for a while. Just worried about banking fees, as my FCDs (Foreign Currency Deposits) are with Bangkok Bank.

Same here, I just make free instant transfers from my Bangkok Bank account to my Kasikorn Bank account as needed. No problem.

Strange, I bought some junk on Aliexpress yesterday using my Bangkok Bank Mastercard, around THB 1,500, no OTP, no problems.

Maybe give the bank a call and see if they blocked your card for some reason, happened to me a few years ago.

Sorry Fritz but TPN handles all Bangkok Bank card payments, and TPN is Chinese backed, same company as Union pay I understand.

TPN was created to move Asian card payments out of western companies hands, only Bangkok Bank in Thailand currently use them, mainly because they charge the bank half the amount of Barclaycard and Mastercard. Don't ask me how they got permission to use MC and BC trademarks on the cards, I have no idea.

A Barclaycard can be either a Mastercard or a Visa card.

The first four digits also provide a more specific identification of the credit card network. For example, Visa® cards always start with 4, Mastercard® starts with 2 or 5, and American Express® starts with 34 or 37. Discover® cards start with 6, while Diner's Club International® cards begin with 30, 36, 38, or 39.

My card is  a Mastercard issued by Bangkok Bank, this is part of the message they sent me "the bank has suspended payment transactions for goods and services with most online merchants registered abroad that do not use the OTP SMS service, as these platforms are often associated with fraudulent activities",.  My problem is that when I set my card up for international payments I had to accept that I took full responsibility for any fraudulent payments made on my card, now they are saying that the bank is changing the agreement we made which stops me using my card to make payments outside Thailand when Master Card is not thai and the money being used is mine(debit).

yes, you can read what they actually told me in my post above, it just started happening wednesday morning, my mastercard debit card only works in Thailand now because they are saying international(US) actions are too risky, it is just very suspicious as it was immediately after china issued warnings about countries dealing with the US

In your first post/quote there is no mention of the U.S. specifically....it just says merchants registered abroad which could be in "any" country outside Thailand.  But in your second post you are now saying "....international(US) actions..."    Did the Bangkok Bank response to you actually say "the U.S." anywhere or you are just throwing in the U.S. in which can imply it means the "mean ol' US is causing the problem."

While Bangkok Bank may indeed be implementing a new policy regarding overseas online purchases/payments, your problem might be solely related to your debit card account setup especially since others are not having your problem (at least no yet).  See below Bangkok Bank webpage/snapshot...call the 1333 number and follow the prompts.     Also, check your debt card's authorizations in mbanking under More Services, Card Management, Manage Debit Card, Lock/unlock Debit Card, select the specific card if having more than one acct/card with the bank, and then there are the variety of "locks" that can be set for the card such as "Lock overseas spending" which applies to in-store and online overseas purchases/payments.
