Bill97 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago 6 hours ago, steven100 said: coffee, cooking oil, sugar, bottled sauces, carnation milk, soaps, these are just some that have increased somewhat over the last 3-6 months. Many small pack biscuit's have been removed from most 7-11's, so it's buy the dearer one or don't get. So what is the point? Prices have risen somewhat for decades. 1 1

Prices have risen somewhat for decades. while that is true, I'm just pointing out that many things in 7-11 have risen 25-35% in a couple of months, is it CP greed? who regulates what they charge? as others here have also pointed out how much they're usual buys have gone up. 1
KhaoHom Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Decades ago I used to wonder whether it was worth walking to Big C for many items when I could just buy them at 7 for quite literally a baht or two more. Times have really changed. I don't really do anything but emergency shopping and the occasional beer in 7. Nevertheless I am definitely noticing prices either extremely high when looking at the product / it's something that I regularly purchase there and at other places such as big C and notice a substantial difference in price. Like in the states 7 learned to ask their customers to pay for convenience. Can't say it's harmed their business in the least Unfortunately un like Japan where you can find amazing prices and lawsons and 7. Please tell me that you're not buying f<deleted>xxng Toasties that recommended to by TT tourists 1

Felton Jarvis Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago 11 hours ago, steven100 said: Has anyone noticed how much coffee has increased in price at 7-11 over the past 6 months. A thai brand 45g pack of freeze dried coffee was 44 baht just 4 months ago, the same packet is now 58 baht. That's a wopping 32% increase ..... and many other items are similar. Is 7-11 pricing regulated ? who sets the price increase on items .... is it CP ? the factory ? or the farmer ? have you noticed a sharp increase in stuff you buy ? I realize Makro & Tesco and others have increased slightly, which is indicative of inflation, but I'm wondering why some prices have really escalated. It won't stop, either. Price increases are here to stay. Complaining will get you laughed at. 1
JAG Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Chocolate: TOPS is now very expensive. I have a weakness for the Ritter Sport Marzipan bars - a few months ago B89, now B119. Cadburys "bubbley" is now B48, yet 7/11 push it out for B33. The Ritter Sport of course is from Germany, Cadburys here is * think made in Malaysia. Coffee, as others have said, has gone up similarly. I find Lotus the cheapest. All my local shops have is those ghastly 3 in 1 sachets. 1 1

StayinThailand2much Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Saw an ad today on the BTS for Lactasoy milk: 9 baht... Heavily advertised a few years ago as 'Lactasoy 5 baht', so a whopping 80% increase in only a few years. Services too; last time I went to my regular Bangkok barber (mid 2023), I paid 160 baht, but less than two years later he's charging 200 baht now, that's a 25 percent increase over the past 20 months! 1 1

The price has increased similarly here in Germany, if not even more (sometimes it is double what I am used to), due to the very bad Cacao harvests. Like the Coffee somebody quoted before, this has nothing to do with Thai greed. 1

Ha, ha, I used to think the same, you'd be surprised. Lots of penny punchers here. I'd say the guys who are complaining about dual pricing are the ones looking at price tags. I reckon I broke an AN forum record with the most thumbs down. I've cracked 40, it'll get to 50 before lunch. 😊 2

alanrchase Posted 7 minutes ago Posted 7 minutes ago 21 hours ago, Rimmer said: Ref the rising price of coffee, major coffee-producing countries like Brazil and Vietnam have experienced severe weather events, including prolonged droughts, unexpected frosts, and floods. These conditions have significantly reduced coffee harvests. For instance, Brazil's 2024 Arabica crop was severely impacted, leading to a substantial decrease in exports. Similarly, Vietnam faced flooding after a drought, resulting in a nearly 40% drop in December exports. These supply shortages have driven up global coffee prices. The Washington Post+7 Coffee production in Thailand is also decreasing which will lead to importing 80,000 tonnes of coffee this year.

So much of what people buy is downright unhealthy, too. So, stop buying and live longer, so that you can spend more money shopping in your added years. Dont eat ya dont poop. Ya dont poop ya die. 1
