An incident marred Labour Day celebrations in Udon Thani on 1 May, as a 47-year-old man fell to his death while repairing the roof of a warehouse damaged by recent storms.

Police Lieutenant Sorawisit Meepian, Deputy Inspector of the Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, received a report of a fatal fall at a warehouse in Ban Nong Kep 4, Na Di Subdistrict, Mueang District. Emergency services and forensic staff from Udon Thani Hospital, along with rescue personnel from the Sawang Methatham Foundation, were dispatched to the scene.

The deceased, identified as Mr. Prajuab Silakhwa, was found with severe injuries including a fractured left arm and leg, and a fatal skull fracture. Preliminary investigations found no signs of foul play, and authorities have since released the body to the family for traditional funeral rites.

According to Mr. Poramet, the warehouse owner and a relative of the victim, recent heavy winds had damaged the roof of the storage building. With calmer weather on the morning, he had contacted Mr. Prajuab to carry out repairs. While on the roof, Mr. Prajuab reportedly moved quickly, possibly due to the intense heat from the sun and a desire to finish the job swiftly, stepping onto a brittle tile that gave way beneath him. He fell approximately 12 metres to the warehouse floor, dying instantly.

This fibre cement roofing is so freakin' dangerous! It really should not be available...over time it goes very brittle, cracks and is impossible for anyone over 20kgs, to walk on it.

I used it 10 years ago, it's junk...the color comes of and now this crap is coming off!  .5mm metal roofing will replace it.
