A foreign national is under police investigation in Phuket after road rage incidents on 4 May, saw him slap another driver and intentionally ram a passenger van before fleeing both scenes.

The incidents occurred in Patong district and has drawn widespread attention after video footage emerged online showing the man’s aggressive behaviour.

According to police reports, the suspect,  described as a white male,  was driving a Toyota Yaris bearing Satun province licence plates. The first victim, a 47-year-old Thai van driver named Wisit, filed a complaint at Patong Police Station following the altercation.

Wisit recounted that while travelling from Kathu to Patong, the foreign driver aggressively overtook his van on Phisit Karani Road, suddenly braking in front of him on multiple occasions. Although Wisit managed to avoid a collision, the erratic behaviour continued.

The situation escalated when both vehicles stopped at a red light near Patong Hospital. The tourist reversed his car without warning, crashing into the front of Wisit’s van. He then fled the scene despite Wisit’s efforts to flag him down.

Later, in a video circulated on social media showing the same man getting out of his car on Phra Barami Road and slapping another motorist who had stopped behind him. The tourist was also seen shouting abuse out of the window at drivers in the opposite lane.

Patong police have confirmed they are actively seeking the suspect, who may face multiple charges related to assault, dangerous driving, and fleeing the scene of an accident.

Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with additional footage to come forward as part of the investigation.

The thing they should do is have signs in Suvarnabhumi, telling first time foreign arrivals, "There are cameras everywhere, so think about this before you lose control of your emotions or are thinking about committing a crime here.".........It isn't like back home in the US, although there are many cameras, not like there is here, at least not outside major cities.

Are we taking bets on whether he's a Brit or a Ruskie?

Considering all the Russians in Phuket now, I would say they outnumber Americans 5-1, odds and probabilities say, Ruskie.

He's very lucky the Thai just happened to be one of the few without a weapon at hand .

Next time might not be so lucky when he finds one of his limbs hanging off from a machete attack or gets shot !!

I've found it much easier since finding out many Thias have a gun in the glove compartment.

Nice...

It's not easy to control your emotions on the road given the way some people drive.

I dunno. My tolerance for poor driving has gone through the roof living in this country.

The king driving the Yaris needs some serious help and a time out. People who break the law here in this case assault need to be held accountable and fined and depending on his actions jailed and deported. I hate to say bring on the tough cops, but if they don’t do anything soon it will only get worse. And yes I’m a honker, but just a tap. The drivers here both local and foreign drive me crazy, especially on holidays.

What an idiot. I hope they find him asap and he gets to spend a few nights in the slammer for assault. Most people these days have dash cams, it's very easy for the cops to get the exact details of who did what.

This numb-a55 fool dodged a bullet this time.

Next time, and we know there will likely be a next time, this idiot may not be so lucky

The license plate number belongs to the vehicle, not to the owner......:post-4641-1156694572:
